Integrated Programme (IP)

someone:
You referring to RGS Secondary IP program, affliated to RI in Year 5 and 6 ?
I recently heard of a real life case where the dd in an IP school (DSAed through sports) could not make it to its affiliated JC. She had been failing every year since sec 1 (and then pushed up, i.e., passed after re-exam, or something like that), and there was no O level class during her year for her to go to (I think the O level class started the year after her year). After sec 4, since cannot make it to the affiliated JC, tried to appeal to another non-IP JC. That JC principal accepted, but MOE stepped in and say no, the dd cannot go to any other JC to take A-level. I think the dd in the end went to poly...him4mixer:
1. From this year onward, there is an unwritten MOE ruling if a DSA students cannot make it to its affiliated JC, eg. RI to RI(JC) due to poor academic results, that student cannot go to any other non-IP JCs to take A-level. Period. He/she must take IB exam instead or hope very hard the other JCs which have IP programme can accept him/her.
If a P6 student enter RGS via accepting DSA offer before sitting for PSLE, then MOE will not approve of this student transfer to another 2nd Tier Junior College, for \"A\" level.
Remember the student & her parents sign the commitment for 6 years, when they accept the DSA offer, at P6 ?
(be careful, when accept the DSA offer. )
But, if students enter RGS Sec via PSLE T-score route, not by DSA offer, but subsequently cannot cope with rigorous IP curriculum inside RGS, wish to exit at Sec 3 to goto either another \"O\" level school to sit for O level in Year 4, or to another 2nd tier IP JC :
even if the Principal of O level Secondary school or Principal of 2nd tier IP JC approve, they still must seek green-light approval from MOE, to exit the Integrated IP program.
Note
Even in another dual track, IP JC scenario -
If an IP student decide to switch over to the O level program (for whatever reasons) in year 3, first, it is subjected to whether there is any vacancy for the student, in the O level.
If no vacancy, In O level course : cannot
( Do not assume that in a dual track IP JC : one can easily transfer from IP to O level easily, for whatever reasons)
Even if the Principal of the dual track JC approve student to come over to O level program, next step : MOE will also question the student in depth, why the need arise, to switch over or Transfer from IP, into O level ? and MOE must also approve.
(be mindful, of selecting 6 year IP program vs. 4 year O level course, after the release of PSLE results) -
So choosing IP is akin to signing a 6yr contract

Only if the student entered through DSA. If it was through the normal S1 posting, the student can apply for a transfer like any other student. But like any other student, it will be subject to vacancies, whether the JC applied to is willing to take the student, and MOE approval. JCs may be willing to look at the students S4 results even if he doesn't have O levels. However, since accepting a transfer is at the discretion of the JC principal and MOE, it is not a sure thing. That is similar to any student wishing to transfer to another school mid-stream. -
For the above case, MOE made the right decision to move her to Poly coz it simply defies logic to let her continue in the O/A level track if she had been failing promotion exams since Y1. And, changing from IP-JC to another JC WILL NOT solve her problem coz she'll still be taking the same A level exams.
Come on, what is her chance of getting decent A level results if she had been struggling since Y!? Continuing in it will not only extend her agony but also will probably result in her ending up with only PSLE cert...and cert of participation/attendance for O/A  . -
hello! i was wondering if it is possible to transfer out of my IP school at the end of year 4 (sec 4), after eoys. i am secondary 3 (year 3) this year and i am currently studying in a integrated programme school that is one of the three schools (cat high, st nicks & scgs) that are joining up to form the new eunoia junior college. i got into my secondary school through psle results, and my grades in secondary school are ok, i havent been to re-exam & i didnt fail anything. however i was thinking about whether i should transfer out to another jc or not, after getting my year 4 (sec 4) end of year results, but im not sure if it is even possible to transfer to another jc. im not sure if any other jc will accept my application since i dont have an o level cert and the only qualifications i will have are my school end of year results from yr 3 and 4. as it is not possible to take o levels as a private candidate since the government doesnt allow it, will any JC accept my application of my sec sch based exam results? will the government even allow? i am contemplating to transfer to either ACJC or catholic JC, if it is possible. also does anyone know if when u are transferring to another jc and are in IP, must the JC u transfer to be an IP jc as well? according to some people they are saying that u can only transfer to another ip jc but canno t get into any other jc that is not ip based. i am not sure if what they said was true or not though :(if anyone has heard of instances where people studying in ip sec school managed to transfer to another jc without an o level cert / without taking o levels, do let me know
thank you so much and i really appreciate the help! -
Since u only Sec 3 this year and you enter by PSLE results, not by DSA offer, why not request for Transfer to O level class within your school, take O level exam next year (2017 Sep/Oct) ?
After O level exam :
you can have more option(s) available, to go ACJC, or goto affliated Catholic JC (minus 2 bonus points, if you are from Catholic High or from CHIJ St Nicholas Secondary), or go some other JC or poly, instead ?
If you take O level exam, there are more options open. -

If you didn't DSA into your IP school, you should be able to transfer to another JC using your school-based results. I know of transfers happening two years ago where NYGH students went to RI and other IP schools to ACSI (for the IB prog). I don't know if new rules have come up since. Call up MOE for first hand information. -

Yes. You can call up MOE or email them. Best to get first hand information from them. The students that I know of from IP schools who transferred just used their school results. They didn't take O levels.
