I was just wondering if one's residency status is considered before considering home-school distance at this phase? :frustrated:

Neither will be considered in Phase 3.

Please see below posts for more information on Phase 3 registration:

        Hi all,

Can anyone share whether there’s any balloting for Cantonment Primary School for this year 2012? My daughter will be turning 7 on 2014 and intending to send her to this school. Is there a need to do PV or we can gain direct entry if we live within 1km?

Can anybody also share if the school is good as it is relatively a very new start up? Any current parents’ children studying there? Is the school work hectic or are there many activities going round?

I understand that there are quite a few changes as to the phase and way the registration goes and really appreciate some help… getting very lost with all the information now.

Many thanks for all your help.

You mean those who registered last year? Cantonment Primary had vacancies up to Phase 3.

Is your child a Singapore Citizen?

I would think that she is safe under P2C, since you stay within 1 km from the school. She will still be eligible for balloting should places in P2C be over-subscribed. However, I doubt it will be so next year. You may like to observe the situation this year before you decide.

                Hi,

Can i check if any parents speak to the office people or the principal themselves? I have sent an email to the general enquiries to check on things on enrolment and PV etc but was sent back a generic email just stating that the enrolment for this year is for children born in Year 2006.

I wrote back another email stating that i understand that but wanted to know more as i want to assess and know more of the school hence wanted them to give me a reply and even given them my number but the school has yet to reply. I think they have ignored my email.

I am a bit disappointed that they decided to waive aside all my questions and just replied a general statement. I wanted to know from parents that child is studying in that school if they have faced anything like this or any parents have tried to send them email and given something generic? Anybody knows who will reply on general emails and how is the principal?

What is the next route that i can try? Go sown to the school myself or call them personally to check?

                Thank you.

                  Hi Yellow Belt,

I just came back from Cantonment Primary this morning. I spoke to the receptionist about the upcoming registration to get a feel about our chances. We are foreigners so we will be registering under phase 3. Anyway, they have a website with some information about their curriculum and CCA http://www.cantonmentpri.moe.edu.sg/ . If you go under Parents' Hub, you can also find out about the different options for parents' volunteer activities available. If going to the school is inconvenient, you may also call them for some information. The last time I did that I got most of my questions answered. Hope that helps.

Any parents can give your comments on Cantonment Pri Sch? I actually did PV at RVPS but am concern about the stress environment as I feel that they are more academic based… I heard good reviews about Cantonment Pri Sch as being more balanced and not just focus on academic… Review of the principal and teachers seems good as well… Is the workload heavy there? Culture wise, is it good?

                      Hi,

Can anyone share on the way chinese being taught in Cantonment?
Heard that Zhangde way of teaching chinese is too dull and many homework for children. As I am not from chinese speaking family, I do not want my child too stressed up for his chinese learning. Heard RVPS teaching way is fun that kids enjoy, but no chance for me going there now 😞

Thanks a heap for the info!

Homework for P1 is very light & manageable. So far, DS has never come home with chinese homework but when I asked him about Chinese class, he says he enjoys it and likes the Teacher. There is chinese spelling every week - also very manageable & the list for the whole term is given in advance. My DS goes to Berries to supplement his learning.

So far, I would say the school is fairly well-organised, homework is manageable and there is a balance of academic & non-academic activities. When I compare with my older kids who are in different primary school, I would say so far so good, at least for P1.
