      Hi Shenice,

Thank you for your reply. My son will be coming 2 next year so looking out for him and need to register a place for him by early next year. Considering Bedok Methodist Church Kindergarten and Holy Grace which is mainly for the focus in Mandarin and distance. But I’m concern about the reviews given lately.
So please kindly if you could update us on the school after your son starts next year?
      Thanks so much!!

          Hi all,

Before Ms Foo took over the kinder, it was Mrs Lim. I understood that many teachers left under her leadership. I had no wish to comment on that. I heard from a parent that it was indeed that Ms Foo had to pick up the pieces and continued to piece up altogether.

There wasn’t any turn over of staff during her stay there until she left… and now it was Ms Sim who is heading the kinder. Hope that answer some of your concerns.

            Dear parents,

In my honest opinion, there is a shortage of teacher everywhere as many do not prefer teaching in a preschool. The salary is not attractive, parents are demanding and many times after speaking to some… unreasonable as well. Perhaps we should stop and reflect instead of criticizing a certain school why teachers left, the principal is not good etc. They all have their issues as well… the principal has to meet certain criteria for quality standard and teachers not being to accept the changes? dealing with enrollment? parents keep charging the school with their own expectations? Some even expect the school to feed in their demands and threatened to pull out their kids! While some ignore rules and regulations to their own conveniences. While some management have some unrealistic expectations from the principal and teachers that parents are not aware of.

I feel sad that in this forum, some parents only see or hear one side of the story… Cos there are many good reviews for many preschools but being Singaporeans, complains vs compliments. Many a times, parents complained because it did not work out for their kids. It is not necessary because of the school but it could be that they are being unreasonable and overbearing. Just my 2 cents worth of thought…

Hi all, i would like to ask if anyone knows about the school bus transport to HGK? Is the bus driver a careful driver and is the bus chaperone able to manage the kids well? Appreciate any feedback here. Thanks lots in advance! 😄

In my opinion,it is one of the most poorly managed kindergarten around. 一分钱一分货。

I’m gonna start off by being totally honest that I belong to the church and I myself am an alumni of HGK. I went to the open house earlier this year and have then decided to send my DD to PG next year.

After the tumultuous times, the kindy has stabilised under the leadership of Ms Sim as the principal. There is retention of staff, in fact, a long timer Yang lao shi has returned to the Kindy, which is an absolutely exciting news! I like it that the Chinese Teachers speak really good mandarin although I would say half of them are not from prc (cheers for that!) lai lao shi, yuping lao shi are Well-deserving HODs and they have star players in the English sector too such as Ms yap. I love it that they are patient and would take time to resolve conflicts and correct bad behaviours so it shows character building is a focus, not just academically driven. For those considering PG, do visit the school and see the classroom. They have renovated it to suit the PG needs and baby proofed the classroom. They would even lock the classroom so church goers can’t use the room on sundays to Ensure better hygiene for the lil ones. I’m Super excited about letting my DD attend school next year! I like it that the school is small and close knitted and it’s so easy to build rapport with everyone i.e. principal, Teachers, admin, chaplain and security guard.

I saw a post commenting on how sad afternoon class is because of the hot sun and hence outdoor play is compromised. I would be honest and say yes it is a constraint, we wouldn’t want our kids to be under the blazing sun too right? But I believe there is enough fun and play time which is incorporated into the curriculum that each teacher has devised on their own. Which means it’s their brain child and you can literally see their excitement as they share their curriculum. It also shows the autonomy Ms Sim has given her staff to explore and plan curriculums.

My Niece is graduating from HGK this year and she’s been able and is willing to speak good mandarin! She’s very independent in her own learning and self caring.

Give HGK a second chance, and visit them. Listen to what the Principal and Teachers have to share and decide for yourself. 🙂

Ps: I may be biased but I’m also a Mother who wants the best for my DD, and I think HGK is the best choice I can make for her.
