      only in ip school?

      Verysuperkiasu:
      krz:

my dd is offered hmtl n 3rd lang
she will b joinin e ip prog

can some1 advise, wat role does hmtl play during A level, if we take it

If your dd passes her htm in year 4, then she doesn't have to take it during A levels so she can focus on other subj. That's the good thing.

      3rd lang
For my son's sch, students are allowed to substitute the GPA for 3rd lang to replace a subj he didn't do so well in - maybe geog or history (except 4 core subj eng, chinese, math and sci cannot be replaced). But i'm not sure if this applies to all sch.

Instead of being concerned about the individual students with the highest PSLE score and the schools they attend, I think it would be more productive for parents to look at statistics that would help them to make better decisions. For example, for parents looking for a primary school to send their kids to, do they want to send their kids to a particular primary school simply because that school happens to have produced a student with very individual PSLE score? or do they want to send their kids to a school that over the years has consistently produced good overall PSLE results? What is the relevance of a high scoring individual student to the education of your children? In that regards, I would like to highlight something about Nan Hua. If I'm not wrong, they have 80 students who scored at least 3A*, and 37% of their students score at least 250 this year. Just imagine, almost 40% of their graduating P6 students would be going to good schools. If you need to register your child for P1, won't a school like that be a strong pull factor?

Got chance. Last year COP for Nan Chiau is 236 and Chung Cheng is 237.

                hi wanglongfeng,

agree with u. However, most schools do not share how many passes above 250.

When comparing the different schools, I think we should compare the % of pupils with 250+ and the mean scores of the schools. We also should exclude the GEP students of the school since they are originally from different schools and they should be 250+ in any way. Including these factors, maybe you will find many schools may not be that good as it appears. I think Rulang or Aitong is better than NY or Nan Hua, after all if you child can enter GEP, she/he can get high score in any school.

I believe that most parents are so concerned on the results at PSLE, which is the first exam of the life of Singapore children. I only caution that any information pertaining to the results is now classified as undisclosable. Any attempt to disclose it without the permission from the school and MOE is deemed as invasion of privileged information.

Whatever so-called "I heard" from so and so will never been validated. If I am not wrong, I think that MOE will have the power to stop any parent from engaging the media to report on their children’s high score.

Please do with a bit of wisdom, I do not know how MOE and the school will view it. If any names of the so-called top student, will it deemed as contradicting the current new policy. The MOE will reserve the rights to pursue the matters as they deem fit.

I caution myself not to be involved of sharing the information I know. This is because I do not know how MOE will view it. This is new policy and let us discuss it with the term, I heard, I was told by my son or daughter who happen to be friend that their classmate get how much and so on. Do not say "so and so (with reference to actual name) of "so and so" school obtained 279, 285, 283. It might land you in trouble if MOE intend to pursue it, it might question the school, and slowly filter down to the actual person who release such information.
