My understanding is that the grades are based on the raw scores.
        http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/parliamentary-replies/2010/07/reveal-psle-raw-scores.php

        Thus grades are not normalized.

You just made my dd super duper happy. She just ran out of the room shouting \"Yay Yay Yay...\" and flapping her arms like crazy. 🕺

Reason? She's never gotten an A for English and Maths in school exams but got A for PSLE. I thought it was based on that adjusted scored (for calculating T-score). So now she's really really happy that she managed to do better than usual.

Please be informed that the marks for subject grades, A (or any other grades) in PSLE is DIFFERENT
from the marks specified in school exams.

That means grade A * is not necessary from 91 and grade A is not necessary from 75-90....and so forth....

I was so surprised when I received my results slip. I was expecting somewhere between a 190 to 200 and I performed much better than expected. I think I’m somewhat demoralised because in my school’s examinations, I tend to get really bad grades and such 😕

It's getting more and more difficult to accept the results. Students who were performing so much lesser than her has outperformed her tremendously. What is wrong? Is it just exam luck? Should I get the papers to be assessed?

It's difficult but still have to accept.
What or where went wrong? Nobody knows...appealing may lead to something worse...so accept our lot and move on. Luck just was not with us then...we have done our best and so has the children.

My daughter who was a consistent performer since P1 and was always on school top 3 until p4 and top 1 in P5 only scored 252 + 2. She works so hard every year sacrificing even her play time and holidays. Her score was very shocking to all of us as we all surely expected her to score 260 + 2 and to be among school top 3 as many students this year worked extremely hard. It took us 3 days to recover from this shock and I keep consoling myself telling that I want to appeal. My daughter keeps telling she did her exams well. My dd's mother tongue is Tamil. I am a layman when it comes to T score calculation.

            1. Will my dd's tamil t-score be affected if the bottom most ranked girl or boy scored quite low?.
            2. Is there any use of appealing as someone here said that ' what if something opposite happens' ?.

              2. Appealing would just reveal the truth to you. It may be a better t-score or a lower one. You just have to accept the reality.

Move on, give your child your best support. Let it be, focus the next phase of journey. Don't look back, move forward...

It is possible! Make every secondary school as same (facilities, opportunities etc) as RI, maybe even use the same name....Then no one needs tuition 冲for psle and all entered happily. :imcool:
Agree!!!That's why MOE removed the bands of each secondary school so that there will not be any bias against the better schools

hey guys. any school can produce one or two top students. However, what I want to know more is the quality passes. For example, how many get A or A*, how many students score 250 and above.

The sec school open house we visited yesterday has teachers who were forthcoming to explain what is taught in their school...each booth was manned by teacher from the dept.
So moving on, I really hope my son will get to enjoy his school :xedfingers: and TEACHERS WHO TEACH. I am not asking for too much right ?
Ultimately, this is the REASON why our kids go to school.
