      hi,

      can someone advise on this:-
      score 256
      first choice-National Junior College (CUP-258)
      second Choice-River Valley (CUP-254)
      third choice-normal sec wothout IP

in this case, will she high chance get into River Valley or she will get third choice? since NJC she doesnt met the COP. thanks.

i would like to ask a kiasu question
with increase of subjects to 8-9 at sec 1, i wonder if my son is able to take cca which doesn't require him to stay back often ? my concern is with the longer hours, he will need time to adjust and cope with the changes.

Not surprising everyday reach home 5 or 6 pm or 7pm. If sch and home distance is near, the child should be home by 5pm.

Which sch are you aiming? NJC or RV?

On Dec 19, you will receive SMS most probably Option 2. Ask you to report the next day to RV.
If NJC is the dream school. After RV orientation, straightaway go to NJC take an appeal form and prepare all the photocopy documents.
Most probably NJC will accept. Boy or Girl?

              anything is possible.

primary school education is just a foundation.

              secondary school education is maturity.

students whom had scored well in PSLE (265) may not necessarily perform or excel in secondary curriculum, it's a matter of maturity rate in thinking n analysis ...

Just be supportive, no added pressure.

              Cheers

You have the point. As my kid entered to the sec sch beg this year. The teacher told them about 20% co-hort failed mathematics. The students scored 260 above to enter into this school. Not sure aggregate for DSA students. GEPpers also can fail Maths?

                  Dear Parents,
Choosing a school for your kids after the PSLE season can be a rather heart wrenching occasion.
Which school is good, which school offers a better training foundation, which school do thrives and excel, neighborhood school or schools that are of a travelling distance.

I've got one key point to render, if you deemed the child is highly self-motivated (i.e. minimal or no tuition needed), exhibited self-discipline (i.e. lesser gaming hour, self volunteering to attend school remedial lessons though not required), did perform well in the PSLE, then do exercise prime consideration to fit him/her in the top few schools, else be conservative and objective.

With God's blessing, my kids are doing well in school, self-studied, self-motivated, as for me, I just facilitate and provide the morale support.

                  All The Best @Poet2010

How come they can fail maths if they excelled from P1-P6 well in the pri sch. My kid's GEP friend also failed maths in sec one. This is very strange?
Sec maths is easier than P6 maths. A, E, C maths are so fun.

I am continuing with English tuition for son in Sec 1 as his foundation is not strong and that language is required for all his subjects other than CL.

I sincerely appreciate all the valuable info given by parents...thank goodness I have this forum and wonderful parents to seek advice from.

in the news on Sunday, a student with PSLE T-Score of 144 is now a undergraduate in Engineering with NUS, he did not get to attend the elite school after PSLE, .... jus revisit ... he is somewhere now where few would perceive ... Cheers
