      dear Newton parent,

      fyi - sharing.

if you are keen to teach your pre-school child montessori Mathematics at home DIY, you may now sign up for a coming parents Mathematics workshop in coming March.

the montessori Maths cover Maths syllabus in detail - from kindergarten level right up to Pri 3 level. It helps to set a very strong, solid foundation in Mathematics for your child. Past experience had shown that when kids go Primary school, 2 subjects that kids normally face difficulty are .... Maths and / or Chinese.

last year i attended montessori Phonics.
      it was very good.

now, i know how to teach my daughter Phonics at home, step by step.
no need to send her anymore for external Phonics enrichment - which is expensive, costing around $100 to $120 per month. If you can save, try to save! Because pre-school education for kids nowadays is not cheap!

so thought of sharing with all parents here that - there is one parents Maths workshop coming up in March, spread out over 4 Sunday afternoon:-

      dates: 13th March, 20th March, 27th March and 23rd April 2011

you may refer more info here:-

      http://montessoriprogram.com/mathematics

if you keen, just drop an email to trainer Nafisa.

      (sorry if i OT)

dear Newton parents of Nursery, K1, K2,

if you want yr child to learn swimming from young, you may train yr child early at Ang Peng Siong (APS) swimming school.

the youngest age to learn swimming at APS - is 4 years old.

swimming lessons are conducted on weekend Sat / Sun:-
        9 am, 10 am, 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm

        refer APS for more info:-
        http://www.apsswim.com/main2.htm

        school fees affordable.
        can give them a call.

APS train kids step by step - systematically, towards swimming competition. There is certification.

the child needs to pass one level, before can proceed to the next level.

                hello vivienpg,

you may give a call to Newton Principal, 62515586.

fix an appointment with her - ask her when she is free to discuss with you the kindergarten curriculum in detail, at same time show you sample worksheets for Nursery, K1, K2.

now is Term 1. Principal is in. But she may be very busy. So best to book appointment with her first.

do NOT call up during vacation.
everybody on holiday - no one will pick up your call, no matter how long you ring.

                term 2 - is from 21 march - 27 may.
                term 2 vacation - is from 30 may - 24 june.

                  hello Em,

you are welcome, back into Newton !
                  :welcome:

if you want to send yr child to 4 hours kindergarten PM session, you can let him sleep until 9 am or 9.30 am.

pls do NOT let him wake up early at 7 am. If he does, chances are he will probably dose off close to 1 pm ... that's when the proper lessons had started. Then he will be missing his lessons.

many of my daughter's classmates in the PM session also sleep for say, one to two hrs - once after they reach home, say, around 4.30 pm. Your child should be able to adapt to the 4 hr kindergarten routine. Should not be an issue. It's a matter of re-adjusting the automatic clock within him -when to take nap.

usually PM session still got vacancy. But you can always queue up for transfer to AM, after you enrol your child in.
