We are now into Term 2. For N2 term 2, the topic is on Plants.
on this Plant topic, you can supplement at home by letting your child watch an excellent, meaningful Science DVD documentary on Plants, entitted the Private Life of Plants, by David Attenborough, by BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). -

besides go National library borrow books on plants, think maybe we can help our kids gain some hands on real life practice with their hands, grow some simple greenery plants at home ?
perhaps we can go and buy some seeds, ask our kids to water the plants, add nutrients to the soil everyday, chart to monitor the plant growth everyday, measure height of the plant ? hmmm …… perhaps, let them start to explore growing simple money plant, an underground stem plant, a flowering plant ?
hey, besides octbride, Jazz, MummyThreeStreams, who else out here have kids in N2 this year ?
I think kids of Jazz and MummyThreeStreams might be classmates from the same class heheheheh… ie. those who attended Pre-Nursery (N1) last year.
octbride – you transfer your child in from St James kindy this year, is it ? if yes, kekekekeke … maybe our kids are classmates from same class, because my N2 PM class are 100% transfer cases from other external kindergarten, childcare centres, SG Montessori pre-school, all join wef this year, Term 1 & Term 2. -

Actually is a long story. First year N1, she was enrolled in newton kindy. Then 2 months later, St James called me and said there was vacancy so i pulled her out fr newton kindy and let her joined St James.
But but N1 term 2, I transferred her back to newton kindy again. haa.
She is now N2 afternoon session Mercy class, also taking enrichment Helen Drama. -

Just my personal opinion.
1) Newton Kindy is more organised as compared to St James.
2) In Newton, each kid has their own bag compartment and the classroom is more neat and clean.
3) St James has alot of "play" activities which is good, eg, need to remember to wear T-shirt attire for Mon, Tues and Friday. Need to bring swimming costume and extra towel on Friday cos there will be water play. Unfortunately my mum is taking care of 4 grandchildren who studied different schools hence its difficult for her to remember
4) Newton focuses Chinese more, which i advocate to that idea as well since i find Chinese pretty hard to learn
5) I find that the students at Newton are more disciplined

hi octbride, so far heard of a fair number of kids transfer in from other pre-schools often at beginning N2, in the middle or end of K1 level are coming from pre-schools like … St James, Marymount, Barker road methodist, Thomson road Baptist, Far Eastern church kindy, Singapore Montessori, etc.
Em, Jazz and MummyThreeStreams, 3 of you can pm one another, my guess is … 3 of you may be from same class. kekekekeke -
common reason given is … they want more Chinese !
