dear Newton parents with kids facing learning difficulty,

one parent (justcoping) just shared that tr Gail from I Creative Learning (ICL) has helped her son overcome speech delay issue successfully. Her son is now reading pretty well. You may want to approach tr Gail, to help your child.

feedback on tr Gail is - she's very patient, and willing to go out the extra mile to help the poor child. Seems like she's highly regarded by many mommies. Very hard to find such good teacher nowadays:-

ICL school fees are reasonable too.

              good news!

wef next year 2012 January, Newton kindergarten newly introduce Di Zi Gui 弟子规 in our curriculum in a fun way to kids!

              - will bring children through the wisdom of moral education, while appreciating the beauty of Chinese culture: Respecting the old and embracing the youth through enlightening short stories.

              - help to enhance our children's learning interest towards Chinese.

              - expand the child's vocabulary via the recognition of the commonly used
Chinese characters in 弟子规, altogether strengthening kid’s language foundation.

              - understand The Virtues:
              ================
enables the child to discern between right from wrong, cultivate good lifestyle habits and reinforces the relationship between parent and child.

our school will adopt 弟子规 from Confucius Institute (Singapore), and modify it to suit our kindergarten kids:-

                http://www.ci-ntu.com/

                Character Building Moral Education

Di Zi Gui (弟子规), in English means –
the Standards for being a Good Student and a good Child.

it is an ancient book based on the teaching of the great Confucius, that emphasize on the basic requisites for being a good person and guidelines for living in harmony with others.

                Confucius said:-

“A young man should be a good son at home and an obedient young man abroad, sparing of speech but trustworthy in what he says. He should love the multitude at large but cultivate the friendship of his fellow men. If he has any energy to spare from such action, let him devote it to making himself cultivated.”

                example: Chapter 1

at home, Be Dutiful to Your Parents

                1. When your parents call you, answer them right away.

                2. When they command you to do something, do it quickly.

                3. When your parents instruct you, listen respectfully.

                4. When your parents reproach you, obey and accept their scolding; try hard to change and improve yourself and start anew.

                5. In the winter, make sure your parents keep warm.

                6. In the summer, make sure your parents keep cool.

                7. Greet them in the morning to show them that you care.

                8. At night, be sure that they rest well.

                9. Before going out, tell your parents where you are going, because parents are always concerned about their children.

                10. After returning home, let your parents know that you are back, so that they do not have to worry about you.

                11. Have a permanent place to stay, and lead a good daily routine, cultivate good habits daily life.

                12. Persist in whatever you do and do not change your aspirations at will.

                13. Although a matter may be considered trivial, if it is wrong or unfair to another person, do not do it and think that it will bear little or no consequence(s).

If you do, you are not being a dutiful child - because parents do not want to see their child doing things that are irresponsible or illegal.

                14. Although a possession may be small, do not hoard it and refuse to share. If you do, your parents will be saddened.

                15. If whatever pleases your parents is fair and reasonable, try your best to provide it for them.

                16. Whatever displeases your parents, if within reason - refrain from doing it.

                17. If you hurt your body, you will worry your parents.

                18. If you compromise your virtue(s), your parents will feel ashamed.

                … etc,

                弟子规

                (一) 孝

                (二)弟

                (三)谨

                (六)亲仁

                    dear fellow N2 parents,

this year, our kids in N2. For N2 and K1 levels, our school still got time to handhold our kids. The pace for (N2, K1) is considered normal pace.

but once come to K2 - the school academic pace moves very fast. Thus try to do whatever you can now to ensure good academic grounding for your child. Try to revise daily with your child. Time to set up a daily timetable routine for child, to recognise discipline at home.
