...Btw, does it really that fully aircon centre will tend to make kid sick easily?...

Yes. It is just another take on the \"sick building syndrome\". Size of classroom also plays a part.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 7 Dec 2009 - Gentlelove Schoolhouse no longer exists. This is mainly due to the fact that a new \"management\" has taken over, renamed the school, and most importantly, principal Ruth has left. The review below is now history - it is a reflection on Ruth's good work, and nothing to do with the present school in GL's former premises.

Hi, fellow parents - I live in Bt Batok and would like to strongly recommend GentleLove Schoolhouse at St. 52, Blk 501. See http://gentlelovesh.com/.

It opened I think about 2 years ago. I'm very happy to say its appearance here, and so near my block, was a tremendous blessing. It has almost everything you could ask for in a good childcare centre, and more.

The principal, Ruth, is a very responsible and responsive lady with a solid foundation in childcare. Her staff are uniformly good as well. Very friendly and positive. I have not encountered a single teacher at this school I have any negativity about, in the time my daughter has been here. They show genuine concern for my daughter, and won't hesitate to call us whenever necessary.

Environment - NO AIRCON! ๐Ÿ™‚ The school is at the ground floor of Blk 501, just opposite a playground/multi-purpose court. Buses, 945, 176, 985, etc. About 10 minutes stroll from Bt Batok MRT.

The one bad thing about this area is that Blk 504 next door is home to the dirtiest people in this estate, so it's a block quite beloved by cockroaches and rats. Not that this badly affects the school, but I thought you should be aware. Also, the estate is home to a lot of older gen, so they do burn a lot of incense during the 1st and 15th of each lunar month - a note to kids with any respiratory issues.

The school has surprised me and my wife with a couple of DVD-Rs with videos and photos of the ongoings at school. It's a really amazing bonus since we never get to see.

Last but not least - my daughter is happy. Something I can't say for the last centre she attended. My only regret is that Gentlelove didn't open sooner here. Anyway, I'm sending my girl back for BASC.

One thing though - places are limited. Seems always full. No harm calling to enquire though, if you are in the area.

Hi, thanks for the good feedback.
It is just opposite the kindergarten where my boy currently studies in! My MIL had asked me to check it out earlier, but I wasn't impressed with its location to start with (yes..the external environment is not very clean, though the http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FucD9Mp8vRI/SRlLzi6wBsI/AAAAAAAABoo/Yh8tdADQqs8/s1600-h/R2.jpg is quite clean).
Will keep that in mind though.
They have playgroup?? Any further info on its playgroup do you have?

          What is 'BASC'?

Before-and-After School Care - i.e. I'm leaving my daughter at the centre after she knocks off from primary school, next year. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That playground (you can see the GentleLove uniform on the Indian girl on the right!) is relatively new, so it's ok. The old playground was just in front of the kopitiam nearby, and I definitely had some reservations about it! And just to reiterate, I think the residents of Block 504 ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Yes I think Gentlelove has playgroup, but I'm not in a position to comment on the programme, since my daughter joined at K2, sorry!

I've had my fair share of bad centres (or rather bad staff), so I hope this will help parents find peace of mind. I have that with my daughter at GentleLove. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi luckymum, my girl is studying at Choa Chua Kang Bible Centre Kindergarten. It is opposite Da La Salle primary school. So far, Iโ€™m satisfied with the school. When she was studied at Tulip Montessori, she could hardly speak and understand Mandarin so she didnโ€™t her lesson there as most of the time, the teachers speak Chinese (wonder where is the English teacher!!!) and after that I put her at CCK Kindergarten at N2, her Mandarin improve alot and after 3 months, she could communicate with my mum in Chinese and with us in English. It is a Christian school so they will teach the children prayer and read them bible storiesโ€ฆ

                      Hi,

Would you parents happen to know if there are any school buses operating in this region? THinking of finding a school bus to fetch between Yew Tee and Bukit Panjang.

                      Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚
