All About Ipad

Hey Sand
... tough question to answer. I would say, my girl loves it because
1) she loves to draw and colour and there are apps that we have downloaded that do that. In the past, I would bring a carrier of color pencils and paper and she would draw and doodle after her meals but now, the iPad does the job.
2) she loves to read story books.
I used to buy the Leapfrog books and the reading pen... there is an app that does exactly the same thing... story is read out loud with words being highlighted karaoke style. So no need to buy Leapfrog stuff anymore! Woohoo
3) she watches movies and videos and plays games. Interactive lor. So its a good time filler in between meals.
Other than that, the iPad is really for myself and hub to use.
but I have a friend whose child doesn't enjoy the colouring and drawing. And told me her boy isn't keen in Leapfrog stuff so she feels the iPad wasn't useful so it really depends on the user(s).

HI!!
I'm very tempted to buy an iPad after seeing how my friends engage their kids with the cute aps on their iPhones.
Yet some of my friends say they don't find the iPad useful and sold their away.
Is the iPad really good? Do the kids really learn using the iPad? -
Thanks for sharing! I was amazed how my sis in law’s iPhone app cld sing children’s song and chinese poems which my hubby and I was trying so hard to introduce to my son. With the iPhone, my son was automatically glued to it. It certainly was more attractive than the flash cards we tried. My did we buy all the good reading resources for the kids but the books did not seem as interesting as the iPhone my sis in law had…
That’s why even though I’m not an Apple fan, I’m quite tempted to buy an iPad. Don’t wana spoil the phone functions if my son were to mishandle an iPhone…
But still considering and weighing our options now cos we’re afraid the iPad would be too addiction.
Ask u arr…if buy iPad mainly for children’s app, will I need more than 16Gb? Thanks for any opinions. -
Thanks all. I will try it out. Glad that I am able to read d book soon.
My kids love the games too but may I know how to look at videos besides YouTube? They wanted to watch movies but I not sure how to do it.
Sorry coz I just had this iPad n it is my 1st apple. -
sands: oh, it is addictive..but iPhone too. Haha. The iPad is enticing cuz of the many apps and some very child friendly ones too. And of course a bigger screen helps, compared to e iPhone.
Like all gadgets, need to set ground rules for kids else, they will be on it like they are glued to tv.
be careful of the app store.. Cuz the kids may end up downloading themselves... And u may end up with a monster of a bill.sand:

Initially my son (K2) loves the iPad, but now he likes the iPod Touch (new 4th gen) more maybe because it is smaller and he can record video of himself singing using facetime.

Hi James, can we download n use the Apple Apps using the iPod Touch (4th)? If so I dun mind buying it... -
Village girl:
it depends on the format of the movie that has been downloaded. but for w.tv, no need to convert anything. download is done on the iPad itself and plays directly too. very easy.

I would never be able to justify to buy an iPad for myself due to the \"Apple style\".. too many restrictions, limited media file support etc.. can't met my requirements..
But I bought 1 for my kids & partner, and felt it is worth every cent!
They all enjoyed using it.. And there are many useful education apps & games too.. and many are free.. in fact, till now I have never paid a single cent for all the Apps.
And the reason I like it is bcoz of the \"Apple style\" too.. What they can do, they really shine in it.. the Apps runs smooth, the browser is fast, the interface is easy to use, and the design is sleek too.
Just don't expect it to do what is is not design to do, like bluetooth file transfer, installing programs not from itune store, play flash, play unsupported media files, download internet files etc.. you'll only make yourself miserable.. that's the reason why many pple are pissed off with Apple products.. Like everything also cannot do..
just take note, it is Not a notebook substitute.. it does what Apple designed it to do Only.sand:
