what a relief… newly announced IP programme brings Cedar Girls to the Victoria family, which Victoria School started in 1876.

now we dont need worry some govt appointed VS/VJC principal forcing us to go co-ed from Sec 1 to 4… and (hopefully) dont need worry about VS and VJC competing for students…

when first hea…rd VS and Cedar is confirmed (on Straits Times) as new IP schools on 30 …Aug…, my 1st worry is that VS might go IP separately, while happy VS doing IP and can keep retaining better students, i do worry that would put us in direct Competition with VJC (similar as IF VJC started the last year proposed "6yr IP") …

this outcome is the best for all 3 schools , VS need not go Co-ed & with IP status can ensure VS continue to attract top boys students (while maintaining O level options), Cedar tie up with VJC , & VJC can have feeder schools with good IP students from VS and Cedar in future (and VS - VJC dont compete for students!)"

Sorry in terms of what percentage?
Anyway the TJC sec 1 will only start in 2013. Right now they have an IP pgm called Temasek Academy (TA) which takes in students from Sec 3 onwards. The intake is about 70. Currently TJC dont hv uniformed grps. Not sure if they will change when they take in Sec 1s in the future.

in terms of whole cohort percentage...think njc has started their sec 1 intake

i dont know abt NJC since its not on my tracking 'radar'. TJC enrolmt for the JC yrs probably abt 800+ a yr. So that's 70 TA1/2 vs 800 JC1/2 a year. I would think the TA nrs would change by the time the Sec 1 intake starts in 2013.
NJC per year's intake will be capped at 250 for their sec 1s from year 2011(next year). NJC has ceased taking in students for year 3 admission, and the next entry level is at JC level. I think they have around 500 places for JC (apart from their own IP).

now sec 1 is 250, and jc 1 is 500 - in future when they have all 6 yrs, it will be 250 x 4 + 500 x 2 = 2000
the number is just right
so i think njc and tjc still have many places for non-ip schools students

Yes, njc has quite a number of places compared to HCI & RI.
Expansion of the Integrated Programme

9-3-2010
As announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Dr Ng Eng Heng, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, Victoria Junior College is pleased to partner Victoria School and Cedar Girls' Secondary School from 2012 onwards in offering its Integrated Programme.

VJC will continue recruiting Secondary 2 students next year for the Class of 2012. Hence, current Secondary 1 students are not affected by the changes. Students who have been selected for admission into the VIP's Class of 2011 are also not affected by the changes.

Seem like for 2013, they will only accept 50 boys n 50 gals from vs n cgs only. And after that, only Year 5 and 6 IP students.

if this is true, then for the current P6's who arent keen on VS/Cedar for Sec sch, the main IP route when they are in Sec 2 wd be to go to Temasek Academy of the TJC - especially if they live in the east. So TJC wd probably stand to benefit from the closing of doors of the VJC IP and become more competitive to enter.
if you are talking about 2011 sec 1 batch, they will be sec 3 in 2013, the same year when tjc stop their sec 3 ip intake and start their sec 1 ip intake

Cedar was a natural IP-candidate for Victoria 'cos almost like 3/4 of the girls go to VJC each year. And these IP ppl came to Cedar ytd and told them Cedar naughty girl, so must marry her to Victoria. :rotflmao:

So i wonder if the current Cedar girls now get 2 bonus pts to get into VJC after their O lvls?

VJC definitely need intake in 2012 for sec 3 VJC's IP because those 1st batch VS/Cedar IP students from 2012 can only study in VJC in 2016 (so maybe VJC last batch Sec 3 IP intake is 2013, so when they are JC 2 in 2016, those 2012 sec1 of VS/Cedar IP can come in as JC1 so 'nice nice' no gap/stoppage at all )
