There are 20 books in this order, the box was almost completely split opened, and it was put in a big sack. No damage to the books, only slightly dented at the corners.
I ordered from dangdang many times when I was in China. They used the same type of box and it arrived in very good condition. So it is the shipping process that caused damage to the box, and the box is also not strong enough to hold the books if they are too heavy.
I advise parents to buy just over RMB 100 at a time. I also have a feeling that small parcels will reach us faster. -
I advise parents to file a dispute with the credit card issuing bank, if you don't receive the books within 8 weeks. You have 60 days from the date of transaction to file your dispute. Then the bank will credit the amount back to you.
If you eventually receive the books, then call the bank to settle it. -

If I remember correctly, Hong Kong is considered overseas, the shipping is expensive.Hi,
I would like to check how to order d books from dang dang when we go China for holiday. Do we put the address of the hotel? Do they deliver to hong kong?
When in China, you can make use of cash on delivery. You pay in cash only when you receive the books.
Yes they deliver to hotels. You need to enter the full address of the hotel in Chinese characters. Then you need to purchase a China phone card and put in the number when you order.
However, it is hard to tell when they will deliver. If some of your books are not available in the province that you are staying, they will have to get it from Beijing, and it may take more than 1 week to arrive. -

No I shipped out at the China Post office in the city.
How to control you tell me? when the books look so tempting, and the prices so amazingly cheap?tamarind:
hquek,
I went crazy buying books from dangdang when I was in China last year. In the end, my books weighed about 25 kg. My baggage allowance was only 20kg, so I had to ship back the books by China post. The cost of shipping was RMB 350 !
Did you pay that price becos you were in the airport already?
Last year I went to Beijing for trip - total number in group 5. 'Thanks' to my books, I managed to hit the 100kg (actually plus a bit) allowance. And I was still lugging many other things by hand. This year a bit worried so I cut down 'brutally' (in my opinion) the stuff I'm buying.
Now whenever I tell DH I want to go China for holiday, he'll look at me knowingly and say 'buy books right'.
One advise is to put all the heavy books into your hand carry luggage. So long as your hand carry bag is the correct size, the airport staff normally don't ask to weight it.
I managed to hand carry about 20 kg up the plane, in addition to my 20 kg of check-in luggage
So I sent back total 65 kg of stuff, including the 25 kg China Post parcel.
I agree that the books are so cheap, and the best thing is that the quality of the books are also very good !
I will be going to China again in June this year. But I plan to bring back a Gu Zheng for my daughter. So I really must control !
Last year, besides buying books, I also went crazy buying handbags from taobao
In the end I cannot bring back so many, I have to give away to my colleagues in China.

I seriously dont know what this thread is about except cheap chinese story books from China.
If anybody want to get rid of their old stock by selling their good story books even cheaply to me, please PM me. I have no clue in going through online shopping.
Many thanks. -

Best to have a china phone number they can contact. I ordered for it to be sent to a hotel (SG managed somemore); and the delivery co conveniently did not call anyone, did not send also. By the time I realised, it was going home time; I did try to call the courier co but no one picked up. Very angry with the co. End of day I did get my refund from dangdang but then, so sim tiah the wasted opportunity. :stupid:Hi,

Most of my deliveries are in crap boxes - the boxes are about to split or have done so. Yes, only small deliveries are received intact.

My first SG delivery - the box split until China Post put the books in their gunny sack like bag...the bag is super hardy. So I got a free handy bag :-P. 2nd time, Singpost had to repack it. I really dunno what kind of lousy cardboard they use. -

I also rec bag from CP but the bag quite dirty liao maybe becos of bad weather so I threw it away along with the Singpost bag. CP bag is like cotton, but SP bag is like those use for 10kg rice.
