Order from Dangdang

I'm assuming you paid by credit card. The above only says they received your order - payment is still pending. If you are lucky, there will be another email today/tomorrow to say they have received the funds. After that, there will be an audit period - you MAY have to send an email to [email protected] with some information (name, order number, 1st 4 and last 4 digits of credit card). My recent orders didn't have to do this - I have no explanation.hi,
I received email from dangdang saying:
当当网已收到您于 2011-3-21 13:04:26 提交的订单 7134594059 ,我们会在收到您的¥208.00货款后及时处理订单,预计1天内从北京发货。
您可以随时进入订单详情页面查看订单的后续处理情况。
Does it mean my order / payment is successful? If not, how long must I wait for reply? I am thinking if successfully gone thru, may want to order more.

Following which they will pick out your order from warehouse (it could take short/long depending on whether the books are in the city you are sending to). For example, if the book you want is in Beijing warehouse, it could take 3-7 days for it to be sent to Shanghai warehouse. Then after that, they will attempt delivery - at this point you will know the courier co.
Sorry if it sounds a bit complicated. But having experienced first hand the trials and tribulations, I think the above should encompass all that will be going on.
Good luck! (Despite the tribulations part, I'm still a keen dangdang shopper - just have to pause now becos i need a bookshelf more than books!) -
hi hquek,
In that case, my guess was rite.
however its been 2 days (ordered on 21 Mar), i have yet receiving any reply from dangdang. how long do you take to receive their confirmation eventually?

Depends on how often you've shopped with them. Recently, my payments were received the next day - but that could be due to surge of orders I was placing.hi hquek,

If you can go online to your credit card and am able to get confirmation that the amount was deducted from your balance, copy and paste and send to customer service. My problem is that DBS Amex is a bit sluggish in that department - it could take 1 week or more before I see the transaction posted.
My lastest order - at point of payment, I actually took a screenshot of the payment screen (that 3rd party screen), and sent that to dangdang. It cleared the payment hurdle very very fast. -
Can’t remember if I said before, but be aware when using vouchers from dangdang. When you use voucher to pay, some of the special offers may no longer be applicable.
I had a big order and was surprised to see after I apply voucher, the nett amount payable is higher than if I didn’t use the voucher.
Upon testing waters, my conclusion is to keep those vouchers for non special offers - regular discounted items can use vouchers and their price will not change. Sorry I didn’t do much of investigation on what had changed. -
hquek:
it's too bad they don't have these books in eBook format. That will save a lot of precious space at home.

there are so many Internet companies that support credit card payment and has minimal delay with no hassles. Wonder why Dangdang has all these payment verification issues. Amazon.com does a very fine job.

It's China, things are done differently. Just go with the flow. :boogie:

I worked in China last year and opened a China bank account there, bought tons of stuff with no hassles at all. They also prefer to use their own credit card, UnionPay, and they have their own paypal system, 支付宝.
These online shopping websites in China do not care about doing business overseas, since their domestic market is already so huge. -

Actually many of these books are available in ebook format. You need to know how to search google in Chinese to find it. However, note that many of these ebooks are pirated copies done without the author's consent.

Also, I do not advise parents to let kids read ebooks. I think it takes away the fun of reading books for young children.
