      Hello Tamarind and Hquek,

Can share how is the packaging like from Dangdang? okay? Happy? Can be better?

Do the books arrived in dogears?
So far, my previous deliveries were to addresses in China. Then the boxes usually quite bad - have to repack to bring back to SG; but the books generally quite alright. Am awaiting my first delivery to SG... šŸ˜ž šŸ˜ž ordered in Oct - I shall have faith.

At times I do wish I were in china. Cash on delivery type orders is so easy - very fast to complete, very fast to send out as compared with overseas credit card.

Thanks for the info. I will \"patiently\" wait for my book then.

Now popular has some offer in CL books and I just bought one Yang Hong Ying's story book with 20% discount. However, no stock for xiao mao ri ji.

I don't have AMEX card and don't think I will apply for one just for this purpose.
Maybe it is wise to apply a new AMEX card for this purchase from China. We don't know how secure is this website and how they protect our credit card information. I would rather buy using a new credit card and cancel it after 1 year. Save myself from liability in future

I have no problem using my credit card to buy online e.g via paypal, ebay etc. But China sites... err... I have my reservation

True, but turn over to the back cover and you can see how much is Popular's markup. šŸ˜› it's a trade off between convenience and costs.

Although truth be told, there are instances when popular could be cheaper than china (bought a set of jinyong novels for a friend - popular was at steep discount to clear goods; and this price was about the same as dd's price).

It's far to exercise discretion in all things internet - china or otherwise. My amex card is largely dormant except for dd things - so it's easier to track. So far, I have not had weird transactions posted to my accounts and refunds are also made after some time.

Perhaps it could be good to reduce the credit limit on that amex card to reduce risks. Afterall, how much books can one buy at a time - so far my max is S$300....and that's a LOT of books.

When dealing with dd staff, I get the idea dunno who is afraid of who. šŸ˜›

Our credit card information does not go through dangdang at all. They use a third party secure website to process the credit card information.

dangdang has a huge market in China and is over 10 years old. I have ordered from dangdang many times, and while I was working in a university in China, I saw many people ordering from dangdang. It is a reliable website, like http://www.amazon.com.

You can always google and do more research. Read this :
                http://www.mobinode.com/2010/10/28/dangdang-go-public-in-nasdaq-next-month/
                http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTOE64G06U20100517

Anyway, when using credit cards online, even with USA merchants, you can always dispute the transaction and ask the issuing bank to stop payment. Just remember to check your transaction details regularly.

The thing to worry about is trojan horse viruses in your computer šŸ˜‰

                  Your credit limit is $300?

I am thinking can we set to a very low credit limit for any credit card to limit our liability
