      Maths Isnt Fun:
for the ans:351 the question was abt chairs...someone arranged chairs in rows of 9. he bought 6 chairs and arranged the chairs in rows of 7 and had 12 more rows. how many chairs are in the hall at first? (i think?)

Oops! DD's answer is not 351, but 357. Thanks for your help.

Oh yea, some tips for the kiasu parents out there! For paper 2,after like maybe left 5 mins, ask your child to type down her/his answers on the calculator, separating them with a minus sign. Rmb not to press the equals button! And keep pressing the arrow buttons to avoid the calculator frm auto offing and turn the calculator so that it faces the table or else the invigilator might see it. after leaving the exam hall, quickly write yr answers frm the calculator onto a piece of paper.

I think I must add a word of caution on this: actually no paper or information is allowed to be taken out of the exam hall. Doing this might jeopardise the student's position even though no cheating or any foul-play was intended.

DS wanted to do that in order to check his answers with his friends after the paper, but I warned him of the consequences if caught and he agreed it would not be worth the risk. They may decide to go strictly by the book. Remember the kid who took a picture of the front cover of exam paper? He was just being playful but the consequences greatly impacted him. I would say the risk is not worth it, don't attempt this!

To me it sounds correct. There can be more than one correct answer.

                        ALgebra
                        last edited by

2009 MA PSLE was hardest. 2010 MA PSLE was easiest. 2011 MA PSLE in the middle.

These are the answers for the 2011 MA PSLE Paper 2 from top students in my school [including me] (97 - 100 marks) Method used for most of the questions was ALGEBRA.

                        20,17,72,70,125,20%,22,42,357*(NOT 351!!!),5/9,180m2,154,26,13,8,5,56,119,199,17,$4576,$150

*Asking for chairs at the end check-> 357 Γ· 7(chairs in each row after rearrange) = exactly 51 rows at last
They said there was extra 12 rows so in the beginning, there were (51-12=39) rows of 9. 351 is the no. of chairs in the beginning!

                        Qns. to note.

                        - MA Paper 1 Q14. option (1)
                        - MA Paper 1 Q30. 4.8
