Your dd school has prepared her well. You can sit back and relax.

DS school leaves everything to parents.

      Hi Brenda,

Which section of the chinese? Is it a worksheet from school or an assessment book?DS school makes them buy so many chinese assessment books instead.

      cheers

      Hi Leanne

Is 短文填空 and 理解问答, 4 marks question that you need to answer properly to score well. The worksheets are given from school. The school does not ask to buy any assessment books but they have given worksheet focus on all these specific area like 短文填空, 理解问答,完成对话 etc. If I'm not wrong, so far dd has completed almost 10 sets of such.

          Hi Leanne

I would think the preparation of CL P2 is quite sufficient if this rate maintenance.

However, there is still not much training seen in CL compo. so we still have to prepare ourselves.

          Cheers

DD school also has been very relaxed since school opening. The supplementary class has just started this week. Nevertheless, I think all schools will do their best to prepare their pupils for this big event

              Hi Brenda,

Sounds like our DDs do share some similar interests (TV, forensic shows), except for the love of Chinese books...haha. My DD falls asleep when she reads chinese books. :slapshead:

Just curious, what type of Eng books does your DD like to read? DD loves to read fantasy books like Percy Jackson, Charlie Bone, Gregor , Harry Potter, Twillight etc.

              Hi Tinkerbelle

CL story book still cannot fight with EL story book. So far she can only complete the whole series of 笑猫日记 and 小白龙.

As for English story book, she love to read books like Percy Jackson, The Last Apprentice, Gone, Burning up, Firesong, Surival, Outbreak and others titles that I also can't remember now.

BTW, we watched The Great Great World this afternoon. The show is mixed with different dialect but quite interesting. This gives us a chance to see something different during 1941 to 1978.

However, too bad today the homework is much more than usual, 10 sheets of maths, 4 sheets of Science, one full set of EL and CL paper 2. Therefore have to speed up after Dinner.

              Hi Brenda,
:!: That's lots of homework for a weekday hor? Wow...your DD can really work fast; especially since she went to the movies with you. :salute: Doubt my DD can cope with that much HW.

Thanks for the feedback on the movie. Sounds interesting.... will bring DDs to watch. Think DD1 will like it cos she likes reading her Social Studies text book... 😉

                Hi Brenda,

The school seems to do a full swing for CA?Its lots of hw.

More homework means more practise for the exam.I believe most psle class 's teachers are very stress themself too, the only difference is the student that is taking the exam, not the teachers themselve.
                Hi Leanne,

Long time no \"see\". Hope you had a good holiday in Hokkaido.

Agree with you that the P6 teachers are also quite stressed. DD told me that her FT (who also taught her last year) no longer smiles sweetly anymore.... Afterall, the kids' performance in PSLE will reflect on her teaching.

                  Hi Tinkerbelle,

Yes, long time no talk since the last hokkaido trip.

Talking about teachers, ds four teachers are quite close and used the same strategy for the whole class. Not sure its good or bad, all flashed marks on worksheet and test for the whole class to see...to encourage competiveness?

Science teacher is very lay back.Nothing happening , not structured in teaching. As such , we have to be on our own.

                  Cheers

                    Hi Moonflower,

Just to check, is current events a newspaper?Or current events is a section in what's up.Thanks

                    rgds

Yes, I had been asking ds to read aloud whenever we do some revision. My hubby is helping him on the Eng. I'm also telling ds to start read newspaper (* school subcribe What's up and I'm waiting for the current events to be mail to us)cos of the oral conversation part. Ds's school have started to call the children to go to their chin teachers to read out their chin text book passage before school, during recess or after school. last yr, his chin teacher shared with me with I also kind of realise and agreed. PSLE starts in August cos the moment the children well prepared and do well during their oral exam, their confident and self esteem will boost and motivated them to put in extra more effort to do well for the 1 month time PSLE.

Thank you for sharing. Yes is better to score more marks in CL Oral especially it is weighting at 50 marks. This can help to cover the set back in CL compo. which is usually tougher to score. Heard from DD that her teacher want each of them take turn to present a current event be it worldwide or in Singapore to te class. I think this will help to increase their awareness of what is happening.

                      Hi Tinkerbelle

In fact I had checked with dd after the supplementary class before we go ahead with the show. However, we wanted to give ourselves a ‘stress test” so we went for some fast food and finish the EL P2 before the show started at 5.20pm. The show ended at about 7 plus and by the time we finish the dinner and a bath, it was almost 8 plus then she took about 2 hours plus to complete the rest of the work.

I think you dd will also enjoy the show since she likes the social study.

                        Hi Leanne,
What?? Flash marks for the whole class to see! I guess it's good for people who excel academically but can be demoralising for those who are not doing so well. However, maybe all the kids will want to know their peers' marks as a benchmark for comparison....heehee.

DD has 1 teacher for 3 subjects - Eng, Maths, Sci and 1 teacher for MT. Dunno if it's good as DD mentioned that the teacher tends to focus more on maths, and the least on science. I'm also concern about how little she's touching on science. Guess, I'll need to revise with her more on sci.
