Hi Brenda,Tinkerbelle:
Hi Leanne,
Thanks for you feedback regarding enrichment centres. DD is starting to find maths tough. Questions are getting more challenging. Definitely need to work on her maths. Guess her CA1 results will be the deciding factor.
Hi Tinkerbelle
I notice dd school has started the running revision by giving worksheet on topics like Whole Number etc and the questions are designed as per Section B. Heard from her that they will be sitting again for a test to determine type of workshop/enrichment they will be allocated accordingly.
Yes. You're right the CA1 become the important factor to assess the gaps since most of the topics had learnt during the P5.
Your DD's sch seems organised.....already starting on revision. DD's sch is still teaching topics in the syllabus. They only have topical tests for maths.
Yes, DD also mentioned they will be banded into different groups for supplementary lessons conducted by external vendors. Once these lessons start, DD will be busier. :nailbite: -

I'm not sure about this but just do a checking on what the worksheets are about.
The maths workshop will be started next week, think most of the P6 students will see papers now more than parent lah.
BTW, just curious to know what is the frequency of your dd CL Comp.?
Thank you -

Hi Hifive & starlight1968sg,Tinkerbelle:
DD has 1 teacher for 3 subjects - Eng, Maths, Sci and 1 teacher for MT. Dunno if it's good as DD mentioned that the teacher tends to focus more on maths, and the least on science. I'm also concern about how little she's touching on science. Guess, I'll need to revise with her more on sci.
Hi
DS also has 1 form teacher for 3 subjects. The teacher also teaches the least on science. Can anyone advise how best to revise for CA1 on science (think also cover topics from P3) ?
:hi5: Beginning of the year, I was quite surprised when DD told me the same teacher is teaching all 3 subjects as most friends' kids have different teachers for the 3 subjects. Thus, it comes as a pleasant surprise that your kids also have 1 teacher for 3 subjects and they all love to focus on maths and not pay enough attention on science....
So I guess it's not uncommon to have this practice. Sometimes I do wonder why science is the least focused on.
Afterall, it's not easy with all the process skills involved these days.
DD's been busy so we haven't started on science revision for CA1 yet :!: Due to time constraint, will probably touch on her P5-P6 topics first. If time permits, we'll venture into P3-P4 topics. -

The PSLE Giant Candy Store- A Singapore fairy tale
Once upon a time, the PSLE exams was a Giant Candy Store which stocked the finest and best candies from all around the world; chocolates, sweets, candy bars and canes, jelly beans, candies in all shapes and sizes; sweet hearts, teddy bears, stars and all.
The PSLE candy store was opened only once a year to all 12 year-olds who visited and they could grab as many lovely candies as they wanted and wished for. While Adults were not allowed into the Giant Candy Store, the Adults had told and coaxed their 12 year-olds to take the opportunity to be their best and to get the loveliest candies which would make them forever happy.
Many 12 year-olds were excited and mystified about the PSLE Giant Candy Store, but there were some of those who could not be bothered. Some even fell asleep during the PSLE Giant Candy Store's opening hours. Maybe they were too young to understand, and even too complacent, to appreciate the importance of getting the best candies for themselves, until the PSLE Giant Candy Store shut its doors after the opening hours were over.
Too late already, the PSLE Giant Candy Store was closed, all those who were hardworking and diligent, even smart, they had a fantastic collection of the best candies, with their best experience to share, for the rest of their life.
\"I have 4 A* for my PSLE and I go to the best schools, get the best jobs in the country and do what I love in life\", the successful man/woman reminisced fondly. And he (she) lived happily after.
The end. -

:rotflmao: Ya, ya...the kids will see HW more than they see us.
Funny you should ask about CL compo...I asked DD the same question yesterday because I have yet to see her CL compo book!! She told me the class has only done 2 compo so far this term. I must admit I do feel that the sch does not spend enough time on CL compo. Unfortunately, this area is my DD's weaker area.
How often does your DD's sch do CL compo?
BTW, are our kids supposed to know ęčÆ for PSLE? I saw a book on ęčÆ for PSLE in Popular and wonder if it was an outdated publication as I couldn't find the date of publication on it. -

Thanks for sharing this PSLE fairy tale in such a candid manner....
Let's hope the doors of the PSLE Giant Candy Store will not close on our kids. :celebrate:

Same here. DD so far wrote only 2. I had checked with one CL teacher and was told that for normal CL is 10 compo 1 year and HCL 14 compo. To me sseems that the school is lack of focus in this area.
If I'm not wrong, ęčÆ were no longer on the examination syllabus since few years ago. Can anyone help to confirm this? -

Looks like both our DDs' sch need to buck up for CL compo, ya...keke. I suspect the schs will rush through the last few compo before PSLE so most likely, the frequency of CL compo will increase suddenly when the sch realize they are running out of time to complete the syllabus.
