Very true, competition, competition, it's a demand and supply market. But this is hard on a 12-year-old kid.
possible factors taken into account could also be a person's CCA / leadership involvment etc in pri sch. Sch Swimmer vs non-sch swimmer, head prefect vs not-prefect, etc. it's quite clear which choice the sch will make.Bbee:
Find this hard to understand too. Feel so cheated. Got the same score yet.....
these so called good schools sounded very high-handed leh.
But SJI is a good school too. My nephew who graduated from there loved the school and still goes back to help out at CCAs as old boys. -

I still find it unusual given that his score is at COP, no adverse comment from primary school and although from non affiliated schools, someone else from non affiliated school has gotten in via appeal. But if your decision is to move on and not pursue it, then yes, forget about the episode and embrace SJI. SJI is a good school too and has been diverting energy into new IP. so your son may have chance to join its IP or other schools in various window periods. Wishing him all the best in SJI! The race has just started, don't give up!
Not from affiliated school. Did not enquire much about him, though. And everything was ok in the documents. Probably other considerations. However, I think it is time to move on. DS posted to SJI. Am sure he will do well there. I like SJI equally. It was just the fact that he score exactly equal to COP that is troubling him. I convinced him SJI is equally good. Hopefully, few days, he will accept the decision and will be happy in his new school. -

Poor kid. I think ur son did not the factors while the others had. E.g Kranji Sec will mainly look @ how the student does in exams and the available vacancies. As for SMSS they look @ everything from the girl's performance(all round) , to values, to character strengths, and etc. U could email the school's principal or VP and ask them how they choose thier students when students appeal to their school. It might give u an idea why ur ds got rejected.[
Appeal rejected. Was told that PSLE score has no relevance or has little relevance during appeals. There are other considerations (unknown). DS can not understand the fact that school is accepting other appeals ignoring someone who has scored exactly equal to COP and given ACSI the first preference. Poor kid. -
Snow Crystal:
I also think that schools should give priority to appeal cases whose score equals to the COP. It is difficult and harsh to explain to a 12 year old who had undergone the tremendous stress of studying for the PSLE, that he is the few unlucky ones that have been rejected because of a few decimal digits. Schools should try their atmost best to fulfil the dream of each child, and especially so if the child has indicated the school as his first choice.

Hi it looks like most cases of appeal is already made known. Anyone heard from ri appeal yet? My son appeal for ri and still waiting for results. Was told that appeal cases are overwhelming and they need time. But I suspect those successful are already informed. :xedfingers: :lightrod:

So far we have heard of a few sucessful RI appeal cases here but those are not from kids who have accepted dsa CO from another school. -
