Very likely. However, if one appealing at 2nd choice has more achievements than the one at the first choice might have a higher choice depending on the school you are appealing to.

Can someone kindly enlighten me ? We were given a school that is quite a distance from where we live. We would like to appeal to a nearer school. Hwr, in the event that our appeal is successful but we decided not to accept after DD is happily settled in given sch, is this possible ? Or, we have to accept the sch that we had appealed successfully to ?

I would rather you put BPGHS bef SMSS as discipline and character wise BPGHS is better.
