My DS’s fren parent called up RI this morning & was told appeal UNSUCCESSFUL for DSA CO high 26X (accepted HCI CO earlier). Admin staff said RI has tried their very best but MOE disapproved transfer. Claimed that letters has been send out (but they hvnt receive yet…) & will refund e $20.

MOE has to approve all the transfers?

So the process is
a) School select the student.
b) Sent to Moe for approval. MOE approves, school inform student. If Moe don’t approve, school selects another student.

Does MOE set the criteria of transfer? by merit? If so, is there a cap of the points?

The role of MOE comes into picture for only DSA CO cases who appealed for transfer. This year, MOE clampled tightly in this rule. But for S1 appeal cases, schools will have their own criteria for appeal selection - Academic, Art, Sports, Special talents, PSLE marks.... I think MOE approves all such cases.

Thanks for letting us know. So, looks like RI, despite being an independent school, does not have the right to make final decision? Still need to go through MOE.

Thanks for letting us know. So, looks like RI, despite being an independent school, does not have the right to make final decision? Still need to go through MOE.

DSA CO transfer does not involve RI alone.
The school the students was posted to is also involved.
If the school cannot release the student even if RI wants to accept also no us.

In Sec Sch book, it stated Dunman High and NJC have similar COP 258 for 2010. First choice RGS, 2nd choice DHS because of better traffic , NJC 3rd choice. Much dissapointment NJC maintains at 258, DHS lowers to 256. Being kiasu, appeal to 2 schools RGS and NJC. Who knows today received from both schools the good news. If DHS remains 258 COP, i won't appeal for NJC.

Why got people choose school based soley on COP? Don't understand your logic why DHS COP remains 258 you won't appeal, but now 256 you want to appeal?

What to do, cannot go to top mountain, now have to scale a slightly lower peak mountain. Why is COP for Dunman High is low this year? Is the school standard dropping? didn't have the chance to talk to any staff because rushing to rgs and njc to submit the appeal forms.

Sigh, if got this kind of student, 不要也罢。 If you don't really want the school, why choose it in the first place? Now you have to so ”委屈自己“

Someone posted on the ACSI thread there are 47 successful appeal cases. With last 4 digits of BC no somemore.

Go and check if you are appealing to ACSI.
