Hi Parents,
The late reporting has always been on Tuesday but changed to Monday effective this year (2018).
Understand CCA is on Monday and the kids will reach home late and tired on Monday evening. Hence, Tuesday late reporting works better so that kids can rest and lie in a bit. Thought this is better taking the kids’ interest and well being into consideration.
Could any parent share why the school or new principal change the late reporting to Monday instead?
Or could we have a collective voice to get the school to change the late reporting to Tuesday instead? Any thoughts or views? :rahrah:
Thanks!

RE: Peirce Secondary School
Hi Parents,
My DS is Sec 2 Express this year. Was wondering, when do the Sec 2 choose their subject combination? over the next few days? then when will they know if they are successful? Am asking coz this friday is the last day of school.
Could someone kindly share what is the process of subjection combination selection like?
Thanks in advance. -
RE: Peirce Secondary School
Hope the Principal of Peirce will see through the transition. She, together with her team of dedicated teachers and personnel has built the school and achieved a good reputation. Discipline is very good. Hope the good discipline will continue.
Share the same concern and there’s some other concern:
- will the standard drop?
- can the kids continue to wear their old uniform ie Peirce instead of buying new uniform to wear for just ONE (1) year?
- can the sec 4 kids still graduate as Peirce? Think Peirce has better reputation
Principal has done a great job, hope she will stay on. -
RE: Peirce Secondary School
My concern is how the integration will affect the sec 4 batch in 2018.
The kids will be taking their O levels and yet need to adapt to the
Bishan Park students joining them.
It is a critical year as the kids will be taking O levels.
Hope the school will have a platform to hear out concerns from both
parents and students, and see how best to address where possible. -
RE: National Junior College (Junior High)
Hi,
Referring to today’s report on change in geography curriculum. Did not recall the school highlighting the change in geography curriculum effective this year. My DD chose geography as one of her subject. Hope NJC geography teachers are equipped and able to teach them well.
NJC has always been known for doing well in Math and Science.
So on a related note, would appreciate some sharing on how NJC humanities students have been performing. Can share how NJC do for humanities subjects at last year’s A Levels in subjects like geography, literature and econs.
Thanks -

Thanks for sharing.
I understand that they attend lectures together, but not tutorials. IP will be grouped with IP for tutorials. But my DS also SH1, so this is what he tells me.sunshine123:
Hi,
Could anyone advise if the IP students are mixed with JAE for their form class or tutorial group? Understand from DD they are now attending lectures but no tutorial group thus far. When would they be assigned tutorial group?
Understand they are now grouped by OG. Anyway,my DD is from NJC's IP track and in SH1 this year.
Am curious how many JAE students are accepted to SH1 this year? Can someone share?
Thanks in advance.
I think JAE always take in about 400 plus or minus every year. Not sure if this yr is the same.

RE: Peirce Secondary School
Hi,
Like to share that Peirce has a wonderful Parent Support Group. They organise very informative workshop.
Last year, there was a Parent - Child Workshop aimed at helping both parents and child to do target setting and inculcate effective study habits. Personally, i think this is an excellent initiative. We attended with our DS and it has been beneficial.
Recently, there was a talk on cyber safety towards teenagers. As most kids have mobile phones, it was useful to know what are the latest trends and how we as parents can better manage the kids.
Indeed, having a small cohort in the Express stream does have its benefits. Generally, his teachers are very caring. I like the fact that there are weekly tests (CA) as the kids would constantly do their revision. There are also pop quiz to prep the kids.
My DS is Sec 2, Express this year. He was also from a SAP primary school and there are a couple of SAP primary school kids in his class too. Overall, would say Perice is a good school and offers great learning experience.
Wish this thread could be more active and we can share more information. :rahrah: -
RE: Hwa Chong Institution (High School)
Hi fellow parents,
Would like to find out more about Humanities Programme.
1) what are the criteria to apply to be accepted for HP at JC1? For students from other IP schools.
2) can elaborate and give some details how demanding it is.
My DD is in year 4 in an IP and is considering to apply.
Would appreciate the advice.
Thank you very much
