      Hi,

      After 2 years with BC, we decided not to let our P2 and P3 continue next year. I feel that yes, they enjoy their lessons but it’s probably not academic enough or syllabus focus to enable them to perform at school exams.

      I think 2 years is enough to determine the results.

      I am now looking for another english program. I think something more academic that enables them more practise would be what we need.

      I am looking at Tony buzan (as it’s near our place) and Lcentral. Tony Buzan is using current/ ex-school teachers. While Lcentral is using native speakers. Was wondering which would be better. I intend to let them try out for a term in term 4. I am not very keen on trial class as I feel that it’s not easy to determine effectiveness through a class.

      Any other recommendations (prefer east or north east centres).

        Hi MMM,

        After hearing your thoughts, I will reconsider to sign my gal f in BC. Do you have other recommendations? Is Tony buzan or Lcentral good?

          I am not too sure about Tony Buzan. I think i was only interested in their mind mapping skills. I happened to pass by Learning Lab and registered our interests. Not sure if timing, etc.. will fit since kids probably has to undergo assessment and they said they require 2 weeks processing??? Anyway, if it doesn't happen, I will most likely go for LCentral.

          Someone we know put his son in LCentral. He switched from BC as well. It's been 2 years and he is still in LCentral and doing PSLE this year. Heard that it's not bad. Some pros I see are :
          * Smaller class size (not more than 9)
          * Native speaker
          * Teacher marks their work and heard they do have some homework/ spelling. Sounds alot more academic
          * Materials looks good

          Only thing is that I am not hearing much review except from this person I know.
          like to know more on LCentral (Jurong East), Sucess 1 or 2.
          Does anyone has something to share? They price is much higher then Just (JE branch too).
          thks.

              Please see the Literacy Circle thread for more information on LCentral. The school rebranded and is now called LCentral.

                    Hi parents,

                    Just want to find out more about the difference between BC, Lorna Whiston,
                    Literacy Circle…are they more exam focus on fun kind of enrichment,
                    and are they focused on writing more and on every component of English?

                      Hi all,

                      Came across this survey about primary school enrichment centres. Short survey with a chance to win an English enrichment course:

                      http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/learningcentres

                      Sounds like they are proposing an interesting programme.

                        I just got an email on the details about the new liberal arts centre for primary school children in City Square Mall, called Elan School. The concept is to develop the child's critical thinking skills through literature and world studies. There's a talk at their premises this Saturday, 3pm.

                        They've been posting in the KSP marketplace forum:
