      I am stuck 🤷 Please help.

      Danny and Mike shared some ice cream sticks equally. After Danny gave 20 ice cream sticks to Mike, Mike had twice as many ice cream sticks as Danny. How many ice cream sticks did each of them have at first? :thankyou:

        PapayaDad:
        bbc:

        Jeric had 45 marbles more than Mark. After Jeric lost 75 marbles, Mark had thrice as many marbles as what Jeric had left. How many marbles did Jeric have at first?

        In the end :

        M:UUU
        J:U

        at first (j not yet lost 75)

        M:UUU
        J:U +75 = 45 more than Mark = UUU + 45

        U+75 = UUU + 45
        2U = 30
        U = 15

        At first J have U+75 = 15 + 75 = 90
        Mark have 3U = 3 x 15 = 45

        Check J lost 75 = 15 ; Mark have 3 times more = 45. correct

        Hi,

        can you help explain using models?
        This method looks like algebra.

        Thank you very much. šŸ˜‚

After the transfer, Jar A now had 112 more chocolates than Jar B. How many chocolates did Mr Nicholas transfer from Jar B to Jar A?

                  Janelle has 14 more sticker albums than May. Trinity has five times as many sticker albums as May. If they have a total of 497 sticker albums, how many sticker albums does Janelle have?

                  One more:

                  There are 96 more paper clips in Box A than in Box B. How many paper clips must be transferred from Box A to Box B so that there are 48 more paperclips in Box A than in Box B?

                      Janelle-|__|14|.................)
                      May-----|__|......................} Total 497
                      Trinity--|__|__|__|__|__|...)

                      497 - 14 = 483

                      7u --> 483

                      1u --> 69

                      69 + 14 = 83

                      Janelle has 83 sticker albums.

                      96 - 48 = 48

                      48 / 2 = 24

                      24 paperclips must be transferred from box A to B.

                        Why divide by 2?

                        Can explain with model?
