Thanks Priskhipo! Crystal clear now.Hi,
Hope the model drawing illustrates the solution better... -
thanks for the model!
actually if we interpret the question to be only double-of-what-he-had, an answer that shows correct solution can also be derived. -
Ali , JIm and Beng shared some stickers in the ratio 3:2:4.
In a game ,jim lost half of his stickers to ali .after the game, ali have 96 more stickers than beng. how many sticker did ali have after the game. -

There appears to be missing information in the question. There must be someway to relate 96 to the ratios.Ali , JIm and Beng shared some stickers in the ratio 3:2:4.
In a game ,jim lost half of his stickers to ali .after the game, ali have 96 more stickers than beng. how many sticker did ali have after the game.
Anyway, if we assume that stickers are won or lost in fixed units, the possible ratios after the game are:
5:1:3
6:1:2
7:1:1
So the possible answers for what Ali has after the game are:
5:1:3 => 5 * 96/2 = 240
6:1:2 => 6 * 96/4 = 144
7:1:1 => 7 * 96/6 = 112 -

Very clear. It must have took you sometime to draw the models. MayI know what software you used to draw the models? -

Not any special software, but just using 'Words' and then paste onto 'Paint'. Quite tedious actually. -

Question may not be correct.
At first,
Ali had 3 units
Jim had 2 units
Beng had 4 units
During the game,
Jim lost half (1/2 x 2 units) = 1 unit to Ali
After,
Ali had 3 units + 1 unit = 4 units
Jim had 2 units - 1 unit = 1 unit
Beng had 4 units (Did not mention any change)
Ali and Beng had same number of stickers. ( 96 more? - error?) -
