      Hi Windy

I also jus enrolled my gal in nursery PM nx yr. And I live in Bishan too. Its a good idea to hv a "support group" so our kid wont feel so lost when they go school next year. I will let my gal take school bus. How about you?

          Hi everyone!

My DD who just turned 2yrsold a few months ago and joined the PM session of Pre-N this term. She is taking school bus now to and fro. I am not so comfortable with this arrangement (I initially wanted her to join AM session… but I was only given the slot for PM session). Anyway, I am just wondering if any of you have kids in PM session who are picked up by private transport or cab. I live in AMK, and I would like to know if anyone is willing to help by picking up and sending my DD home as well. Just let me know the price… I am really really worried about her falling asleep in the school bus, that’s why I am looking only for 1-way arrangement… Please PM me your contact. Thanks!

I hear a lot of good words about MMK. I am so tempted to put my DD to MMK Nursery next year. But I don’t leave in Thomson/Bishan area.

Any parents living in Clementi or Eunos putting kids in MMK?

I so envious of parents who manage to sign up their kids in this kindy.

But I'm located so far from Thomson. I always want to put DD in a kindy that can help with her character development. Nurture her to be loving and caring, and not just teach her academic stuff.

                    hello Jworld,

if you stay in the East (around Eunos), three very good kindergarten worthwhile considering are:-

                    -\tSt Hilda’s church kindergarten,
                    -\tShalom church kindergarten,
                    -\tHoly Grace church kindergarten.

all these 3 kindergarten – the standard is high!
if you have the time, visit all 3 kindergarten.
ask the Principal to show you their sample worksheets.
you can see for yourself that standard is pretty high.

                    a) Holy Grace kindergarten trains young children in Chinese from young – very powerful. Their core curriculum covers about 70% Chinese.

if you visit the school premises, you can hear many kids rattling off in mandarin fluently, like chirping parrots. Their Chinese is strong. A number of kids can read and recognize chim chinese vocab!

parents send kids here because most of these children are heading for SAP primary schools, where their Chinese foundation need to be grounded very strongly from day 1 - since they will be doing Higher Chinese, from enter Pri 1 onwards.

besides academics, Holy Grace also nurture young kids in character education and morals too !

                    b) St hilda’s church kindergarten core curriculum from Mon – Fri prepares children very well for Pri 1. Parents who sent kids there can sit back and relax, no need to worry - when their children enter Pri 1.

St hilda’s kindergarten school Principal is also very hands on type. She is truly someone whom I admire greatly. Even on Sundays, you can see her loving dedication to little children’s learning.

come rain or shine, you can see the Principal stationed on Sunday morning inside kindergarten itself, encouraging all children to read storybooks vividly. All kids simply love to hear her narrate tell stories, with funny expressive actions. The children laugh and enjoy her story telling!

I have never seen a kindergarten Principal so dedicated towards teaching young kids with passion, until I met her. She is someone I salute, with respect.

so far, how many kindergarten principals do you see … coming back every Sunday morning, just to make sure the children develop a passion love and interest towards reading ?

besides academics, St. hilda’s church kindergarten character education and morals is also interesting ! Go down and speak to the Principal to share more with you.

                    c) Shalom church kindergarten standard - also high !

I was quite impressed with this school standard, when I browse through some of the worksheets see what the kids do - for English, Maths and Chinese worksheets.

besides academics, Shalom church kindergarten also groom young kids towards having good character education and morals.

In general, most church kindergarten cover basic character foundation building, over and above daily academic school work. They groom children from young to grow up God fearing, loving, kind, showing reverence and respect to elders, teachers, people in authority, classmates and peers around them. This you can rest be assured !

                      hello dahmum,

yes, it is natural for children to fall asleep, after a tiring long day of learning in the kindergarten.

sharing – last year, when my daughter barely turned 2 years old, she attended a 3 hrs church kindergarten daily. Everyday after school dismissal, once she hop onto school bus, she tend to feel sleepy, so will sleep all the way until she reach home. Thus, I gave instructions to school bus lady that whenever she sleeps:-

a)\ttake out a small tiny little pillow from her school bag, lie this small pillow down gently behind her head, lie down her body totally flat on the school bus seat, strap the safety seat belt across her body at all times, and let her sleep soundly.

and my girl …… has been doing sleeping like this for the past one year inside the school bus. No issue.

                        Thanks greenbean2011. That's very helpful.

Do you know of any in Clementi area? I may move there (subject to whether can locate a suitable place that I want).
