just want to check in what circumstances will the school closed for cleaning?

Probably if the outbreak exceeds a certain number specified by MOH. Understand sch has to report such cases, which means parents and sch must co-operate to keep cases isolated and contain it.

that’s why schs have to diligently wash all the toys and commonly shared objects on weekly basis, sun them and dry them

My dd diagnosed with mild case just this morning. Never handle such thing before. She is not cranky and loves to drink yakult to keep hydration. Keeps reminding her to wash hands and ladle her little fingers , not just washing not enough. Her sch has couple of confirmed cases, does HFMD spread through air-borne ?

Hope ur DD get well soon.

Dun think its air-borne. Likely they had shared food or maybe towel.

Thanks BlurBee:) I think somehow transmission in some ways esp when these grp of under 5s yo is the most vulnerable grp. She has been keeping well whole of today, except fever is like roller coaster but thank goodness < 38 degrees. No need Brufen just normal paracetomel to keep fever away

that's why very unfair to students who are well... i kept DS at home just coz the schl has hfmd cases.
anyway, hope ur dd get well soon 🙂
btw, give her chinese barley, those from china de so that wont be too cooling till cough n it helps to de-toxi too 🙂 adults can drink too

Thanks wcw...is someone else can look after your little darling is good to keep him at home, still the best arrangement. As for mine, she has been downing with cups and cups of plain water, barley water doesn't work on her as she will just close her mouth and refuse to drink at all.

:thankyou: wcw, dd is on the road to recovery....some spots are drying up and not alot new ones popping up. Touch wood !
She is very guai and doesnt make a fuss when drinking tonnes and tonnes of water, although liang cha is still a no no for dd.
Besides palms and soles, they appear on knee caps as well.
Doc has confirmed she can return sch next week. DH and myself discuss and think better to keep her at home for longer period . :xedfingers: 🙏

My K2 girl was diagnosed with mild HFMD this morning. She did not have any symptom of fever except complaining of sorethroat since yesterday. So yesterday and today, I had got my helper to boil the chinese barley for her…probably the barley did help…The school called this AM and informed us to bring her to the doctor cos her class had 3 confirmed cases of HFMD. They had also spotted small ulcers on the upper side of her mouth…My poor girl was complaining of teeth pain since last week and we found out she was teething with her 1st molar and at the same time is now having HFMD…Whole mouth is in pain and cannot eat as per normal…Other than that, she is okay…so poor thing…
