To help ease the pain and discomfort, you can try yakult or make your own ice lollies. Can vary the flavours with apple juice, ribena, anything cold and nice to help them feel better.

Sometimes swallowing hurts as the throat will also be inflamed. Hence sucking on the ice lollies or ice cream might help.

Hi auntieM, thanks! I brought her an ice cream just now n she was happily eating it....I did check her mouth n I think got abt 20 very small ulcers inside whole mouth....including tongue n lips....I applied bonjela on the ulcers hoping it will reduce the pain....her hand n foot was okay...hopefully she can get well soon.... 🙏

My K2 girl was diagnosed with mild HFMD this morning. She did not have any symptom of fever except complaining of sorethroat since yesterday. So yesterday and today, I had got my helper to boil the chinese barley for her...probably the barley did help....The school called this AM and informed us to bring her to the doctor cos her class had 3 confirmed cases of HFMD. They had also spotted small ulcers on the upper side of her mouth..My poor girl was complaining of teeth pain since last week and we found out she was teething with her 1st molar and at the same time is now having HFMD...Whole mouth is in pain and cannot eat as per normal...Other than that, she is okay....so poor thing.....

Hope she gets well soon HappyAvon, maybe can cheer her up with ice creams and yoghurt..can ease the discomfort in the mouth..

i know... the kids will be very poor things.

Uh... my girls got HFMD twice when they were in childcare (many years ago). They suffered a lot during the 1st incident but after that I was very careful and diligent whenever there was an outbreak. So, when they got it a 2nd time, I spotted the signs early and brought them to the doctor in the very early stage. As such, they did not suffer much the 2nd time round.

How to spot HFMD - apart from the red spots on foot, palms and tongue, another place is the buttocks. Both girls got it there 1st. May look like rashes so if not sure, just bring to doctor to check.

Hope your dd feels better soon :hugs:

Good to hear you gal is feeling better already HappyAvon.. ..

Once they start wanting to eat always a good sign..
When my DS was recovering, my mum would pop cut fishball pieces to him while he open his mouth wide.. ..really reminds me of 'animal shows' feeding time.. :faint:
