Need some advice...still hesitating whether to DSA RI? As DS is from mainstream,no sport achievement,only good in math...got a platinum in SMOPS. I know chances to get into RI are LOW but DH is saying\" you never know if you don't give it a try\" So....very headache as the deadline is next week

No need headache, just go ahead & apply. If gets in good, if not it will be an experience.

Just try lah no harm. RI and HCI should be able to gauge the ability of boys. They mature later than girls.

These schools should understand the behaviour of boys. My neighbour’s son during primary sch days so naughty, didn’t study well, now in NUS 2nd year even get scholarship.

Did he try HCI? Think he stands a good chance with platinum in SMOPS.
Is RI his dream school? If so, no harm trying if you've not applied for many DSA.

Did he try HCI? Think he stands a good chance with platinum in SMOPS.
Is RI his dream school? If so, no harm trying if you've not applied for many DSA.

Thanks for all the advice! Yes, he applied HCI and was shortlisted for the tests and interview but feel like buying another lottery ticket not \"insurance\" just in case...who knows will be rejected or not....hoping to get into these school base on the PSLE results is like and lots of stress and pressure..
For RI, DS is not confidence...DH said that is ME that brainwashes DS saying that all the smart ones are there...hard to survive. :imdrowning:

I also been telling my DS that there're too many smart ones in RI. Very stressful. Since he has only applied for HCI, then really, no harm trying RI.

Good luck to your DS on HCI's test & interview. My DS is also shortlisted for HCI.

he certainly has a higher chance in HCI and RI, but no harm trying for RI, you never know

I know of a kid -- last minute apply RI DSA - last day for submission, is a mainstream boy, last minute staple together the relevant doc and submitted and he got in ! the funny thing was that he was \"supposed\" to get a CO from HCI but for whatever reason he was given a WL from HCI and of course he is now in RI

Nope. No news yet. I was also wondering and kept asking my dd but she said none of her female classmates received anything. Only the boys did.

May I know when the interviews are usually conducted for RGS and NYGH DSAs? Any chance of receiving CO without going for interview?

Interviews are conducted in July, and so I was wondering if anyone might have heard anything by now. My dd so far has not heard anything frm the schools she applied for.

I understand that NYGH might give direct offers to outstanding girls, but I think interviews are a requisite for RGS.

With his platinum in SMOPS he stands a much better chance than many others trying out for RI. I say go for it.
