      MMM:
Did anyone try for DSA via asthetics this year??? Pls share your experience.

My dd1 is P5 this year so I started looking through the selected school websites on their requirements.

How many schools should we try for???? Was thinking of 2-3 is that too much?

In one of them, saw that they asked for grade 5 practical and theory in western instruments. I felt :nailbite: . Called the school and acknowledge that I am kiasu so asking ahead. They asked about her background and then told me that the grade 5 thingy is a nice to have. But what is going to make/ break is the actual audition..... she is definitely eligible to apply. But I thought good to do homework earlier so that we can prepare. Also, I am going to show her those requirement eg. overall average cannot be lower than 70%, etc... so she has to work hard.

Asking her piano teacher if can position her for grade 5 theory.... practical is definitely a stretch. But good to learn that it's not MUST have but nice to have.
Which school takes DSA under Piano?

All these while, I've the impression that as long as one is being accepted during DSA & that the sec school offers IP prog, the child will be in IP regardless of the t-score. Isn't this the case?

Regardless of t-score? Wah, then get t-score 150 also can, har? 🦆 :scared:

            Hi,

Not too sure about it. But I thought there isn't???

So far it's either choir, CO or band. In band, there is no piano.

But maybe for those top talent there might be a exception?

Then what were those minimum requirements of Grade 5 practical/theory that you got for? Which CCA were those requirements for?

And yes, I've not ever heard of DSa through piano.

I think for RI…even though you have gotten a CO, the T-Score must be above 200.

It applies to all schools. Not only RI.

It is actually for DSA via band. They requested for grade 5 practical and theory for a western musical instrument. So I think piano qualify in this case. I was just going through a couple of selected schools and it appears that only this school ask for this. In any case, it's good to understand from them that it's a nice to have if you have the relevant exposure.

Besides, piano, it's actually possible for one to get grading in their band instrument. But that means private tuition. Issue is this is a niche market and tutor fees can be expensive. Fortunately my kids are attending this MOE music talent thingy so they get their own instrument tutor.

But in this case, besides having grade 5 theory and practical, the criteria is to be in a school band and have participated in those competition, etc...
