        Dear all,

DS went for HCI interview tis morning. According to him, there're 800+ applicants this year. 250 from GEP. There're about 7 students taking turn to go into the interview room. The question he get is all abt himself on why he want to go HCI. The interviewer continually to ask more base on his answer. so to him, it's more like chit chat session. His classmates were ask abt the response test ans n current affair.

Your ds so lucky lor ... mine kenna a very aggressive student leader that asked a lot of challenging qns, from info about himself to current affair, some in Mandarin too. Duno wat he is out for, must terkan my little boy ... 🀷 ds stay :imcool: and got to ε…΅ζ₯ε°†ζŒ‘ πŸ˜“ πŸ˜“

My DS think he is lucky. He said maybe he elaborate a lot on y HCI. Those questions asked are really drilling into his answer. When he said \"a\", they ask what make u say \"A\" & why \"A\" and so on. However this does not mean he has done well. Just that he felt relieved that he can answer. Good luck to our DS!

What does RGS DSA's GAT test? If you apply for science, does it mean that they will also give you some questions on it or will it just be some general ability test, like GEP's test?

What are some sample questions, and where can I find them?
                Thank you. :thankyou:

Many people ( teachers, students & parents) don’t understand the rationale behind NYGH’s current reluctance to offer DSAs to non- GEP NYPS students. Last year, many excellent students from the HA classes at NYPS were not offered DSA to NYGH for no obvious reason. As expected, many felt that their own sister school did not value them nor gave NYPS any face.

Some of these children and parents retaliated by opting for RGS/NUS HIGH the minute PSLE results were out. Once the talented older sister in P6 goes to RGS/ NUS HIGH, the younger siblings will almost automatically follow. This is already happening.

It seems like an unnecessary loss for the Nanyang family. It is also a waste because NYPS had spent 6 years instilling Nanyang values into the students only to lose excellent students to other schools which welcome them with open arms. If bilingualism is valued and encouraged, NYGH should try retain its highly bilingual students from its sister school.

My DS is going for GAT test RI next Wed. 3.30pm to 4.30pm, I think the chance is very slim and DS insisted to give it a try. All the best to our DS.

Many people ( teachers, students & parents) don't understand the rationale behind NYGH's current reluctance to offer DSAs to non- GEP NYPS students. Last year, many excellent students from the HA classes at NYPS were not offered DSA to NYGH for no obvious reason. As expected, many felt that their own sister school did not value them nor gave NYPS any face. .

Maybe it's due to the earlier batches of non GEP NYPS students 'ditching' the NYGH COs by accepting RGS or NUSH COs eventually. This is called 'once bitten, twice shy' - NYGH must have quite a number of rejected COs from this group of children who have multiple COs. Thus, before parents blame NYGH for not giving NYPS face or value them, please investigate past history if this was the case. Well, the sec schools have to wise up too... They also don't like to be taken for a ride. Eg another IP NJC also rejects many GEPs and high performing mainstreamers as they must have experienced high rejection rate previously from these groups for their COs. From the sch's angle, COs are precious and they would rather give to those with lower chance of multiple COs or who have really demonstrated commitment to accept CO if offered probably during interview. There is no point organizing such an elaborate DSA and then face rejection of their very precious COs. Also, most importantly NYGH is an affiliated sec sch of NYPS, so NYPS girls need only 250 (including HCL bonus point) to enter via PSLE S1. Thus if NYGH ascertain that the girls are of 250+ calibre, why give to them CO, might as well give to other school girls who may not meet 262 high S1 COP but with talents that NYGH wants. I guess if the parents think from a broader big picture and from their sister school NYGH's angle, it should not be difficult to understand NYGH's perceived 'reluctance' to give NYPS mainstreamers COs. In fact, a NYPS girl in a top class capable of achieving say 255++ and above PSLE score should not need to apply to NYGH DSA...perhaps to us outsiders that is the puzzling part πŸ˜‰ Also, as an outsider, it's also surprising to hear affiliated pri Sch thinking this way of their affiliated sec Sch. Wouldn't most like to continue to NYGH due to sense of affinity and belonging? πŸ˜„ All the best to the PSLE!
