DSA 2012
-
OK. Now I think I have found the answer in their website. There are 2 types of DSA:
DSA (Academic) for Year 1 IP 2013
DSA (Sports) for Year 1 2013
As for DSA (Academic) for Year 1 IP 2013, the following are the criteria:
St Joseph's Institution welcomes current P6 students with consistent excellent academic results for direct school admission, DSA (Academic - Year 1) into SJI Integrated Programme (IP) Year 1.
Applicants should also display outstanding leadership qualities, talents and character.
Eligibility Criterion:
- Outstanding overall academic performance in primary school;
- Outstanding engagement and achievement in one or more areas of talent: academics (e.g. Math Olympiad), sports, arts, leadership and service;
- Quality of mind, as well as personal and relational characteristics.[/qPuote]

THERE IS ONE MORE, FOR DSA by CCA .
E..g By Performing Arts: choir, band, string ensemble, etc
Let your DS/DD watch their performance and see whether they like it.
Currently Dunman High has one on Apr.
If interested, I have some for String Ensemble.
Your DS/DD will spent quite some time in sec Sch on CCA.
It's always good to compare before you decide which school.
Dunman High performing Art really has standard.
On hand I have String Ensemble tickets at $10 on sat 14 April 2012
evening, , PM me if interested other CCA also have( for performing arts only)
The performing art centre has standard too. -
Competition is hotting up. With more Schools offering the IP, every school would want to attract the best students to their IP track. Children with good academic records will have more schools chasing after them to woo them over through DSA route

Ya, especially for those who received more than 1 CO or WL, they will receive calls from these schools to 'sound out' whether they will take up their offer ! -

Thks jheng & shurley197323.
They need to take O level chinese/2nd language (year 4) and A level chinese/2nd language (year 6).jheng:
Hi,
did anyone attended NUS High Open House last Sat?
The principal said that the only National Exam that the students need to take is 2nd Language but I think he did not mention whether it's in year 4 or year 6. Does anyone know? Does NUS High has higher mother tongue?
My DS is taking HMT. So like what shurley197323 has said, if he is with NUS High, he'll need to take HMT from Year 1 to Year 4. Just like other IP school.
My DS1 is also taking HMT, that's the only National Exam that they have to take. -

Yes via the internet and in cases whereby you receive more than 1 offer, you have to select the correct school code, so please be extra careful.
In the case of NUSH DSA offer, do students exercise his option in the same option form uses with the other schools ?8228:
NUSH Open House this coming Saturday.

Hi phankao,
If your child is section leader or other position holder in the band, it would give him/her an extra edge in the DSA application. Grading certificates are useful too.
I understand that the kids will get extra bonus points if they are holding certain position in their cca. Where is this bonus point reflected ? Is it in the report book together with their SA1 results? This bonus point is only to be used during the DSA application ? Can the HMT bonus point be used in the DSA application to SAP schools as well?
Thanks! -

AS far as I know, primary school CCAs gain no points. So there's no points awarded nor shown in the report book. At most, it'd show that the child had participated in such-and-such CCA, what competitions or performances he/she represented school, awards, any leadership roles. This would probably be stated on the Testimonial written by the teacher-in-charge too. That's about all that would show.
Bonus points of any (HMT) do not come into play in the DSA process. You can use that only under S1 posting. -
