Fine-tuning in mindset of kiasu people, more like.
I guess VS IP wants to sieve out those not keen on their school and give the chance to other boys really hoping to go to their school. They may even offer more WLs downwards to even more boys if many reject their COs.KSmom8:
Whilst i understand the logic for VS asking for acceptance early, I thought the above mentioned by Lilac66 was the procedure set by MOE too. Rather confused. Is this the first time VS is asking for early acceptance? Have other schools done the same before?
Other secondary schools have been asking kids with COs to step forward and reject if they are not keen in their school. But :slapshead: very few have done so..can you imagine some kids are hanging on to 3 or 4 COs? I am sure some may even heard of more :yikes: Some one posted that the parents will say undecided or not sure if can cope in the dream school etc etc... But another boy who is genuinely interested in a particular secondary school but ranked just outside its WL list has been denied a DSA chance  Also most of the time, the kids are only deciding between Sch A vs Sch B
There is much fine-tuning needed in DSA process....

Restricting applications to not more than 3?
Asking kids with more than 1 COs to decide their choice before DSA exercise closing in order for the school to grant CO to others on the WLs but this will be a tedious exercise because the one who is on WLs for school A might also already have one COs so will he/she have ample time to exercise her choice.
It also depends on how fast the school announce the results.
Unless we computerise the process by a central system like S1 posting where you need to indicate the choices by priority. -

How will NYGH announce the results? By Mr Postman, email, sms or phone?
Even trained pigeons take less than 8 hours to fly from west to east of singapore, including stops to poo and pee.

Don't get too discourage . My dd also try for RV , no news too but surprisingly she was called for interview by another school which I don't expect at all. Perhaps her Chinese cannot pass RV standards although the school SA 1 she scores A and A * for cl and hcl.shaunshaun:
Congrats those got co parents. My DS still got no news from RV. No interview, no SMS, no call and no letter. Just give up and told my DS to study hard for psle.
Yes, u r right. My DS may know that he was not selected at the end. But I have not officially told him about the slim chance of the Dsa. Instead, I talked to him that he worked hard in the coming exam, he would be rewarded and even have more chance for choosing yr dream school! Btw, we Dsa for RV ,our only trial,is only considering for the distance to our home I encouraged him chance always with u , but it depends on how much effort u put in! Besides, I told him if u r not good or competitive enough, even if u got a place in yr dream sch, yr life will not be easy! Giving him a true and realistic projection is always my notion!
Think different school looks for different talent .
Let work hard for PSLE !
Same for my DD, 'no sound no picture' from the schools (2 only) that she applied for. Though I tell her that chance is not high, she should never give up. In the 1st place when she go for DSA, we are hoping and giving her another chance to go the dream school. However, if DSA fails, and continue to work hard for PSLE, she still stand a chance to go to her dream school and may even have more choices.... Anyway, I just cannot understand why shouldn't these \"DSA schools\" firstly inform those students who are rejected before they called the rest for interviews? THese poor kids while waiting and hoping to be called for interviews, they still have to struggle with their homework and revisions... Double stress![/quote] -

Good suggestions. For me, I was also thinking along the line of limiting maximum number of COs and WLs a kid can have for DSA. A kid can't be having so many dream schools right   we have given our feedback. I am sure the people in MOE has a way to implement this...... if they want...

sometimes it is the famous \"kiasu\" attitude and \" in case\" you dont get your dream school A, you can still secure a confirmed ticket at school B. Sounds familiar aint? you see sometimes a household queuing in two separate lanes side by side when you are not sure which is the fastest lane? -
Will RI organise any tea party for CO/WL applicant?

I know what you mean

But MOE has narrowed the gap- no transfer after PSLE if a kid accepts the school B CO.
So if Sch A is the kid's dream Sch but didn't offer the kid, all the more he shouldn't hog Sch C, D and E COs. He should just decide if he wants to accept School B or give up that offer and use PSLE result to enter Sch A. It's a decision between Sch A and B.
If he gets Sch A offer, his dream school, he should quickly let go of Sch B,C,D,E COs upon receipt of Sch A offer. Again this is a decision between A and B. Why hog C,D and E?
Thus my suggestion on limiting max number of COs/WLs a kid can have
