Very very caring teachers who keep in touch with parents on the sons' progress.yarna:
Thanks Benorito for sharing.
Do your kids spend a lot of time in school - what is a typical week like? How is the culture and the parent support group? The KSP forum page on SJI is not very active. Are the teachers supportive and encouraging?
Their pastoral program is very very good. I find it to be a very holistic school that doesn't just concentrate on academics.
I find their boys very much all-rounders and are certainly more personable than the school boys from Bishan Hill :siam:
:thankyou: Benorito, I find this info helpful too
Fantastic PSG too. -

If you don't mind sharing, in comparing between SJI and ACSI, what would be your key considerations? Why do you personally prefer SJI? Is your DS from feeder school? My nephew also received from both schools and my sis-in-law can't decide between the two :?
Both schools are similar and it is hard to decide. DS is not from a feeder school to both ACSI and SJI.
DS' take on ACSI:
DS likes the environment in ACSI and felt a sense of belonging when we visited during open house. I think the principal plays a big part too - Mr.Hodges sounded warm and sincere in his presentation during open house and DS says that he reminds DS of dad (DS' dad aka my dear hubby).
DH and my thoughts on SJI:
DS is not exactly the most hardworking kid. It is coming to a month to PSLE and he is still kidding around. He takes things easy and to him, PSLE is just another exam which he likens to a SA2. He did nothing to prepare for oral and when I asked him to revise, he will tell me, dont worry mum, I have it covered. :frustrated: erm... ok.. we could only pray and take his word for it and hope for the best.
Somehow (and I might be wrong at this) I felt that ACSI will be more stressful as it would have a more competitive culture. For DH and I, it is looking at his personality and we feel that SJI would be a better fit for him.
Ultimately we know that the decision should reside with DS as he is the one that is going to school and not us. We will respect his decision whatever it may be. But we would like him to hear us out too.
:thankyou: yarna, for taking time to share your thoughts with me.
My nephew is also not from the feeder schools. Unlike your son, he does not feel so comfortable in ACSI. I think he\"s a little intimidated by the white-and-blue majority. Yes, we shall let him decide himself

My 3 DSs are/were in SJI. It's a fine school or I won't put them there one after another.benorito:

Thanks, emoh for the info. I did not know that. May I ask if your DS is in SJI? If so, how do you find the school?
What would you like to know about it ??
