      Congrats!

It’s great to receive a CO from the top girls school thru sports, but if a child enters the school with a cop much lower than the required academic cop, will the child struggle much while in school to catch up with her school mates, coupled with the pressure to perform well in the sports?

I confirm twice with Raffles. They said no confirm offer , it’s provisional offer with conditions. It’s at least 235 , can be higher if their COP is higher.

She normally gets 70s in school. Is that safe to get 235.

My hubby and I like NY Girls school, dunno what’s wrong with this girl.

            Dear parents,

please help with your feedback as I have been worry over this since a few days back.

My child has a confirmed offer from NY Girl School and a Provisional Offer from Raffles. The Raffles one she must obtained at least 235. She is Sports DSA.

She likes Raffles very much but I very worry that she cannot get 235 - then how if she can't get in ?

I tell her to go for NY Girls School but she not keen.

            What do you think ?
Put RGS as your first choice and NYGH as your second choice on the acceptance form. If she scores >235, she will be allocated RGS. If not, she goes to NYGH. In the meantime, tell her to study hard so that she can gain admittance to RGS. jiayou!!!

Nothing's wrong with your girl. 😉 In fact I think it's good that she knows what she wants. Encourage her to work hard for that 235. If she really wants to go to RGS, it'll give her the push to put in the extra effort to score well. Like I said in an earlier post, put RGS as your first choice in the options form and NYGH as second choice.

This is entirely my own opinion.
You said you are worried if your daughter will hit 235 for PSLE and her average is 70%.
If your daughter really gets around 235 in PSLE, she will definitely find it daunting to cope in RGS. RGS min COP is around 26x, so your daughter's score of around 235 is way way below. If she's so adamant, she has to work real hard in RGS if she gets in. Also, her CCA demands will at at least 3x a week plus perhaps outside coaching. RGS IP is 6 years with no O level class. If your daughter is 25x standard I will advise you to take the RGS CO but if 23x,hmmm?.. Please think thrice.

On the other hand, the lowest cut off score in NYGH is around 247+3 (NYPS affiliated), which is slightly nearer to your daughter's around 235 score assuming that she's that standard and that you aren't just being humble. Still, quite many marks off. Must work hard too. Please think twice.

All in all, IP is a 6 years journey. Your daughter must be outstanding in her CCA to get two offers from the IPs. But put her ability to cope before the brand of the IP.... sorry if I am being frank   My personal personal opinion only...don't :spank: :heresmyfish:

I concur. Tough to excel both in sports and studies. At RGS your DD may struggle academically to catch up with the rest of bright students. Sorry for being upfront. If your DD is averaging 70+%,she may have problems catching up and to be in the school for 6 years and being miserable is no joke.

Of course, just my personal opinion. But, as parents, we must think long term also.

                      Hi Glorymum,

:thankyou: for your welcome message. Like you, I do hope that NYGH is working today. :? Do you know whether NYGH has sent out the COs already or are they sending them out on Monday? The longer the wait, the more :nailbite: :nailbite: :nailbite:.
