Ceirelav:
What is the differences between IP & Non-IP? When do we start to apply for DSA? Is there any cut off point? Sorry I am new and not sure on DSA, my boy is P6 this yr. Thanks for advising 🙂

IP is a 6 year prog with no O level.
The application date for DSA differs among the schools. You'll need to go to their website to check on the application date.
There's no cut off point for DSA. The kids need to go through various tests, interview and/or camps depending on each school. Once they pass thru these & are being given a confirm offer by the DSAed school, they just need to accept the school after PSLE. They'll then need to get T-score of 200 in order to get in to the school.
Once again, HCI open house clash with RI this year, 19th May 2012.

        lol:

If we go to HCI in the morning for open house and then go to RI in the afternoon for open house :boogie: , will we miss anything important which will go on at RI in the morning?

in either open house, you should not miss the talk by the admin / principal, other activities can miss

from past experience, there are specific time slot for the talk, always packed .... you are hereby given advance notice ....
As there is no info on time slot for the talk, can parents who attended last year's talk help share the timing for last year, assuming it will be the same for this year. TIA

There's still a month to the Open House and they're probably still finalizing the schedule.

No difference between chances of mainstream and GEP getting into NUSH.

Majority of DD classmates at NUSH year 1 not from GEP (I think safe to say 90%) , so I would say, mainstreamers have an equally fair chance at NUSH DSA as GEPers, as ALL need to sit for entrance test, regardless whether GEPer or not.

Alot of the GEP will be targetting RI/HCI/NYGH/RGS/ACSI so that leave not many for NUSH...

Some even appeal to transfer out on registration day in 2011. That's why the NUSH DSA yearly intake yearly hardly hit the 153 quota (only 17 for PSLE intake). It is fair to state that GEPers make up 10% - 15% of NUSH intake yearly. The 2011 total intake is only 140. Many of those missing no are from the GEPers group. But NUSH is fair as the GEPers/Mainstream are assessed on equal terms.

I agree that NUSH is fair in DSA case. Why can't RI, HCI, RGS, NYGH do the same? Survival of the fittest!

Anyone knows if we need to register for the talks in RI & HCI? If so, register on the spot or via website? Can we choose the time slot? TIA.
