:goodpost: I AGREE. Let's not add on to the kids' stress levels before PSLE. They are only 12-year-old children, who have done an amazing job attending the tests, trials and DSA interviews. Kudos to all the DCs!
Maybe parents whose kids have more than one CO and are debating over which one to go to, or have a CO from their second choice school and are debating whether or not to take it up would appreciate the extra time to think it through and not stress over it before PSLE? Currently, DCs with COs or WLs have more than 2 months from now till 22-27Oct to decide on their DSA choice. Our DC can choose only one CO, why do we need 2 months to make their choice? The fact that the application process started in May wouldn't it have given anyone ample time to make the choice by the time results were released in Aug?
My DH and I have decided not to discuss about the DSA outcomes and comparison of schools in front of DS, before the PSLE. DS is one of the many who are undecided, and he wants to focus on PSLE. We wish to support him. -

I tell her to go for NY Girls School but she not keen.

Because there is a choice of more than 1 CO thus the need for more time? If through a centralised allocation of CO by choice of priority indicated upon application, there wouldn't be the need to choose anyway.

During the interview, DC might gain further information that may change his mind on his preferences, or it could be the manner in which the interviewer behaved or how the interview or DSA process was conducted. So prioritizing on application is not fair to the child... Is just like before an interviewee attends job interviews, the interviewee ranks his choices and is not allowed to change his mind. The decision then lies entirely with the interviewer. Does not sound right, right? -

Does a job offer wait two months for you? If you have more than 2 job offers and required to take up only one within a week, would you still need to wait 2 months to make that decision?

My daughter also got provisional offer from RGS. It is neither in email or letter. Received phone call from RGS explaining this offer. It is not even considered a WL. RGS explained that we have to think very carefully as to accept this offer means that we have to give up all our other DSA offers and take part in the Sec 1 posting after the PSLE results are released. If you take part in the DSA option form at the end of October, then this offer is withdrawn.
It is a tough decision especially when you receive COs from other schools, if it is WL, still not so bad as there's still chance you may not get a CO. So please think very carefully. Not many will throw away a CO and hope to score 235 to get into RGS.
As for my DD, we are still awaiting the results of our other DSAs before we consider further. -
Personally, I find it rather strange to leave the decision of accepting a CO after the PSLE. It seems unfair for those who have more than 1CO to hold up the rest waiting in line. Also, if a child finds the PSLE tough, he or she simply falls back on the CO while the rest who do not have any CO will have to sweat it out and hope for the best.
Moreover, those who have CO may have less incentive to do their utmost best for the PSLE but will still have the CO to fall back on even if their PSLE results turn out not that good.
If a CO has to be confirmed before PSLE, the child has to decide whether to accept his or her ‘dream’ school. If the CO is not for the dream school, then it should be given up to those who consider it their ‘dream’ school. Then this child who gives up the CO will have to work hard to get into his or her dream school.
This will level the playing field, but just my humble opinion.
As I know, SST has to have confirmation of whether to accept the CO before PSLE. I think they recognise all the problems for holding back the COs. -

With preference form school can decide on the WL if >=235 then give if not goes to 2nd school. :sick: -
