Sadly NYGH not working OT today. Maybe they have already finished sealing off all the letters with a kiss and dispatched by Mr Postman.
So sit tight and heart palpitates at the sight of the postman.

MOE's process is actually very good. The schools are supposed to notify all students of the outcome of their DSA application (CO/WL/R) by 31 August. Students and parents can then close a door on DSA and focus on PSLE. In October, after PSLE, when the kids have a fair idea of how well they think they performed, they will fill in the preference form for their DSA schools. If the kids think that they might possibly be admitted to a better school based on their PSLE score, they can choose to forego the DSA admission process and just wait for the S1 Central Posting. If they don't think they did that well, then by all means choose the school that offered you a CO/WL.
My view is MOE should seriously review the whole process. Set a timeline that all school must release the result on tmr same day, a week to consider and submission within the date. WL be notify with the next wk and this will release the unnecessary stress for all the parents. :celebrate: the current process is not balance.
The confusion at hand came about because Victoria is asking parents to indicate whether they are accepting or rejecting the VS offers, so that VS may offer the released places to others on the WL. This is an honour system. I would think that it is not contractually binding bec the MOE preference form takes precedence. But VS is trusting that based on honour, parents and kids will select VS on the MOE form if they have so indicated in their VS letter. Note that this is a move initiated by VS, not MOE.
The current MOE system allows for schools to offer COs and WLs and the computers will allocate them accordingly when PSLE results are released. There's no need to have a separate notification date for WLs. It's just drawing out the process and confusing everyone. Imagine if the dates were extended to mid-Sep so that WLs can be compiled and parents notified. Parents will be complaining that it's so near PSLE and it's so stressful for them and their children to not know the outcome of the DSA application, that it's been dragging on for months, that it will affect the kids' mood and hence PSLE results etc.
Also, if as you say MOE dictates that everyone choose their DSA school within a week from tomorrow, it means choosing your school BEFORE having taken your PSLE. You would then not have an indication of whether you did well or badly for PSLE. Is this fair to the child? -
I couldn’t agree more with Jtoh’s comments, posted just a few minutes before this.
There is a timeline in place by MOE. It is available on MOE website. If I remember correctly, it gives all participating schools till end of August to inform applicants. Then, in October (is it 22 Oct?), applicants are required to indicate their choice / preference in a form. Confirmation of secondary school (including outcome of WL) will be together with release of PSLE results in Nov. I understand that most schools adopt this system, but also understand that some schools try to get confirmations earlier, which is perhaps causing the confusion.
Just to share. DS has been rather cool and calm about the entire DSA process. His focus is on preparation of PSLE. We applied vide DSA to 2 groups of schools. The 1st group was to 2 top schools ( which most of his classmates will be applying to - no prizes for guessing which schools ) and the 2nd group was to 2 IP schools nearer to home. Since he is focused on the PSLE, I thought the MOE guideline of deciding after PSLE was good…but due to a deadline set by a particular school, I had a lengthy discussion with him, taking into consideration traveling time, etc. He fell sick the next day. Perhaps, it was a coincidence cos his classmates have been falling ill. However, he did say a few days later that our discussion did stress him…which was understandable on hindsight cos the decision affects the next 6 years of his life! So I am for the current MOE system. It is not without flaws but I like deciding after PSLE. From my experience, my DS is not stressed by the wait for the outcome of the DSA application. He knows that there’s still the Sec1 posting based on PSLE results. It is perhaps us parents who are unnecessarily stressed about the DSA. Just my 2 cents worth of opinion. -

My suggestion is to drop both NYGHS and RGS and opt for S1 posting with the intention to appear. Let me explain why.
IP is a seamless prog which leads to A-levels. Your dd needs to score at least decently to enter our unis, she needs to obtain 3H2 passes even as a senior member of the national team in her sport under discretionary application. Her current standard is 25-30 pts behind the mean of the above schools which is way too much. Remember, there's no 0- levels, so it will place her at precarious situation without any alternative. Poor performance vis-a-vis her school mates may result in low morale which undermines performance both in academics and sport. Always bear in mind that the school allows her to don their uniform and she will need to represent her school. The pedagogical methods of the above schools in my opinion is unsuitable for her given her current academic standard. She needs to be somewhere around the mid 80s to be able to cope.
My recommendation is that she places either MGS and SCGS as 1st and 2nd choices depending one which one she fancies. Given her sport achievement, she can always appear to both schools after the S1 posting if necessary. Both offer dual track IB/A-levels and is more ideal apart from more choices. You can than monitor her progress and decide which option suits her best IB/A-Levels/Poly.
She is choosing a sec school not uni so brand name should not matter much. -

Thanks for your explanation.
I just wandering why VS never bother to explain when someone call-in and ask what do they mean for acceptance letter and answer the question about anything about the prefer letter in Oct.
I believe they should try to explain on this as you know it is not easy to make a different propose when no one is aware
