Well, I would not comment what are reasons cause such high % not exercising the option but like to share a question raised by one parent:

The parent asked that her DS not good at Chinese, what the impact would be if he studies in HCI? The principle said he wouldn't expect all HCI students are very good at Chinese or like CL very much, but at least must not 'hate' CL. If the student 'hate' CL, there is no point to study in HCI.[/quote]

DS applied thru GE. :? He is still unsure about where he wants to go next year, guess the peers in school play a part in his decision making. For P4,P5,P6 there are 2 are 2 team which GEP students and non GEP students (main streamers) something like express,normal ,technical .

Pri 1 to Pri 3 : no differentiation

Pri 4 to Pri 6 : GEP or non-GEP (mainstream). within mainstream, some schools have HA (High Ability, those bordeline just missed the GEP selection)

Sec 1 onwards : Express, Normal (academic) or Normal (technical)

My child is due to register for P1 next yr for 2014. However, as I have not much knowledge abt the primary school education system, I am trying to learn as much as possible, including primary school registrations and so on to prepare myself and child at same time.

So far, the forum here has been very informative, except for times whereby I may not understand certain terms. So please pardon me when I ask silly questions at times.

Hope all will get the COs you wanted!!!! I can feel the joys and empathise with the disappointments of the parents here, for I also want and hope for the best for my kid as well.

High? 50% wa. From the RI point of view, 50% who receive both RI & HCI will give up RI and go to HCI. What is the reason for giving up RI then?
Perhaps RI less focus on the variety of Chinese programme,like drama, debate, .. to help train the students in their Mandarin, what else?
