SCGS and MGS accept ballet for DSA, minimum RAD garde 5 certificate for application. my dd was given a confirm and waitlist offer from them.sweetiepie:
Wow, all so good. Looks like Guzheng no chance! Wat about ballet? my dd gg to take grade 6 tis Apr. Participated in competition but no awards. Grd 5 only merit. Any school for Dsa dance?
There are a number of schools which accept dance (ballet) for DSA. Most of them specify a minimum RAD Grade 5 certificate. Of course if your dd has been getting distinction in her ballet exams that would stand her in better stead. But more important is how she performs during the auditions. They'll look at technique, poise and performance abilities. -
Hi mama of 2,
How is the audition conducted in SCGS n MGS? What must my girl prepare? I thought DSA audition is usually in June? Your bb got offer so early? -

Just to share our experience here to those who may want their girls to try for DSA... my dd is Sec 2 now.
During her years, for audition, teacher will perform different types of dance like jazz, ballet and Chinese dance only once and all girls will have to tried their best to remember the steps and perform to the judges in group of 5 or 6. They also asked to do some stretching to test her body flexibility.
There were about 150 applicants for dance druing that year and about 11 of them called for the group interview few weeks after audition. For your reference, my dd scored G1, 2 and 4 in distinction 70 for G5.
Good luck to all

Does parents have this confusing feeling - to try or not to try? I worry if my bb is not being offered, she will feel sad. however, if she does not try, she will miss out tis opportunity!

Ask yourself - is your dd's ballet outstanding or only above average? The girls I know who successfully DSAd into SCGS, MGS and SOTA were outstanding in dance, scoring distinctions in most if not all their graded RAD exams. They also did more dance forms than just ballet, so they were very versatile. If your dd is outstanding, then go ahead and try. But if she's just above average then maybe give it a miss because there's stiff competition in dance DSA. -
Well, my girl is only average jones in Guzheng, ballet, jazz, tap n violin. Not outstanding in any but she likes all. I will let her decide herself as she just came home and told me some of her friends of the similar caliber in dance are trying. As long as she is happy with the decision, I am happy…Thanks for your advice!

Ha ha ....
That's What My Gal did too! Join in the \"FUN\" of DSA-Dance with her other Classmates.
As long as U Don't Overstretch yourself, and Manage the Expectation (Very Tough to Be selected via DSA-Dance!), it is a Good Experience
