GoodDad:
Hi yukilei
Good Dad, my DS wants to be Business Man, but he doesn't have CO from ACSI. HCI can??yukilei:
How about Business Man?
There was a saying \"If you want to rule Singapore go to RI, if you want to own Singapore go to ACS\"
No CO from ACSI is ok. HCI does has some program for entrepreneurship. However, training is only one small part of it, it is the contacts and networking that make the different.
http://www.hci.edu.sg/advantage/student-development/leadership-education#entrepreneurship
Thanks GoodDad. DS is aware of this prog & is interested in this. I agree with you that networking makes the different. One of my relatives told him if he's in RI, he'll know lots of lawyers & maybe politician which maybe useful to him when he become businessman one day.
He kind of agree with them as well. So he is still thinking. -

Do you realise how wise your DD is? She wants to be a comfortable big fish in a smaller (may not be small) pond. A contented person is a happy person. In fact, she will use the time to grow herself by gaining knowledge in a less stressed environment and when the right time comes (uni maybe), she may be the priced fish which emerge as winner :boogie:
She seems to have a mind of their own. While peers are vying for top sec schools, she said she don't want to be in overly competitive environment. She would sometimes tell us what's wrong with being normal. She is happy being a normal person (as in not a celebrity, or someone famous). Well... being normal can also be a happiness. At least you can eat in hawker center anytime you want/ wish. You are a free person. -

I can't help laughing again. Kekeke :rotflmao:
Oh my dear Candy, I've finally found you!!! :love:Mychildren:
jedamum,
Good morning!
yukilei,
U've got Terry!
Back to topic,
For me, i'll let the children decide what they want to pursue. But of course, we need to let them know what are the options, the career path available.
Design doesn't means u end up be an architect, u can be a product or display designer, graphics designer etc, right? I'm not in this field so cannot say much.
Snow crystal, u can c your Terry here whenever you KSP.
Just kidding.
Just curious, yukilei, u got Terry first or u follow after I put Candy???

Definitely. Passion is most important. If you're passionate about what you're doing, you will find happiness even if it's not the most glamorous or highly paid profession.jtoh:
I like your dd's attitude. Any job can be good, especially if you work to be the best in it.
But having worked with a group of talents who graduated from top unis in the world and most are phd holders, I learnt that the key to success is all about passion.
Those with passion for what they are doing will eventually do well, make a difference and they will shine. Even in the same job, a person who is earning a living will behave differently from the one who has a passion.
So long as my kids' passion is not idling at home and do nothing, I think I am fine. -
yukilei:
Hahaha, I was thinking when you (Terry) & mychildren(Candy)will meet. Finally both of you were united here.

Good Morning everyone!!!
DS received invitation to HCI Step Up Leadership camp in Oct. 2D1N at HCI boarding school. Any of your DS also going? Think is meant to be for those DSA to HCI. I heard some on WL also gets it. But some on CO do not. So, donβt know what is the selection criteria. -

My DS has not received such invitation although he got a CO from HCI. When did your DS receive it? Via email or letter?Good Morning everyone!!!

Yesterday DS received an email from his teacher who requested the pupils to fill up an online form by 16 Sept for their choice of secondary schools via DSA. I clicked on the link of the form and did not see any title or description, so I am very confused about the request. Is the form a survey or a replacement of the preference form that is supposed to submit after PSLE during 22-28 Oct? Can any parents share if your DS also receive such email? What should the official preference form look like?
