Hi jedamum,Unless one has good design flair and really like designing, if not, I won't want my kids to be architect. Building industry in sg is tough with all the building regulations and clients want good want cheap, architects work long hours too. And architect not only design, they need to manage project too.
Jmho.
thanks for the sharing.
Appreciate it. Will be good if more can share abt their profession here.
Ds also does not know what he wants to do when he grows up.
I do not have much advice for him either. -
I think at this age, most kids would still be quite fickle as to what they want to be, and very much influenced by friends. My dd1 has run the whole gamut from wanting to be a tai-tai to being a doctor, while dd2 wavers between a fashion designer and chef
.
I think whatever their dream career, it's important not to be disparaging. I try to be encouraging (well, except for the tai-tai \"job\") and tell them, study hard so that you have a better chance at realizing your dream, whatever it may be. -

Most businessmen don't have any history of doing extremely well in studies...if one does too well in studies, he/she will get a comfortable salary which will become an obstacle to venture out.
hmm…. Bill Gates, Yahoo, cisco, ebay, google, FB, even Creative … they are smart, qualified for Harvard etc… but chose to drop out… U decide what makes them so successful?? gene vs luck vs opportunity??? :rahrah: :rahrah: my DD told me she don't want to work for MNC , rat -race, she prefers either be a writer or involves helping humanity i.e..be a doc in 3rd world etc., cancer whatever!!! :xedfingers: -

Sometimes, I wonder are we instilling the thoughts of getting a $$$ career or a job of interest to our children??? Of course, the best of all is to have a job that u love & pays well!

Wow, after reading through what all the dds and ds want to do or not want to do when they grow up; I feel so ashamed.
For, my dd only wants to be a pokemon trainer. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: -
