I need to understand on the 3rd language policy
1. is it has to be decided when PSLE results are out. can we join after joining the secondary school.
You will know which third languages you're eligible for when you receive your PSLE results. You will be required to indicate your choice during the S1 posting exercise. Results will be made known to you when you report to your secondary school in Dec. No, you cannot take up the third lang if you didn't opt for it during the S1 Central Posting Exercise.
2. is it a paper that students have to pass to get o-level/a-level/diploma.
No.
3. can they just join the 3rd language just for getting to know a new language.
Yes
4. for joining European universties is it a must to know one of the european languages . what is the advantage ,
please advise. -

Hi anyone knows what is the psle cut off point for scgs and st nicholas ip programme?
To be eligible for consideration for the IP programme at SCGS, SNGS I think you have to meet a minimum COP of 251/252? Then the actual COP is dependent on demand and number of vacancies. -

I think his/her kid going to NUSH, in which case, even if the preferred 3rd lang is not offered by MOE, the kid still have the option of doing it in NUSH provided NUSH is offering that particular lang in their inhouse foreign lang dept. But I understand that cost may be high, perhaps around $100/mth. Still, since the kids usually donch need much tuition, the saving can be used there. My answers in blue below:

[/quote]Yes, NUSH offers its own 3rd lang programme, not the MOE one. The students have to pay for their 3rd lang classes in NUSH? Didn't know that.

Just to share. For those who are going for Hwa Chong’s Parent Symposium on 20th Oct, Sat, I’ve confirmed with HCI that the kid can tag along.

Thanks Yukilei! I definitely need to bring him along as no one is at home with him that day. -

You're welcome. Same here, I need to bring DS too. Beside, I think it's good for him to hear from \"horse mouth\" on how the life will be like. But DS said they probably will be introduced abt HCI during the camp on 17 & 18th.
