Yes, try.. My DS got CO from DHS with average result of 80+ with no recommandation letter... Honestly looking at the sequence of events leading to the CO, i dont think the letter is that much a factor too...

Now just hope that my girl can score better in her SA2 and next year SA1.

My friend 's son got a CO from a premier school for IP course through academic but he fell ill since last week . Fever and stomach flu , unable to perform at his best condition . He afraid tht he may only get 230 plus . Although letter stated as long can get in Express but he afraid that school will not accept him or put him in some observation .
Needs your advice on these !

Since he has a good reason, even if he does poorly for the PSLE, it is no reflection on his actual ability. I don't see any reason why the school should refuse to accept him as long as he makes the cut for Express, even if his PSLE score is below the school's COP. Your friend can always get some kind of letter from the Pr school to let the sec school know what happened.

Dear Blue Dolphin, agree with you. It is still untested. Very new programme to them. As per my threads above, wonder why St nicks still remain so secretive abt their cut off points.

No worries. My guess is St Nick is IP newbie and does not want to waddle into a PR nightmare with bad or unfounded information releases. They do have a strong reputation to protect and an equally strong alumni to provide support. Should be fine. Hope the dragon year effect does not overwhelm the increase in IP places (as reported in the Sunday Times), and maintain/lower COP across the IP schools.

Just have to wait for announcements.

No.School Pref Form will be given on 22 Oct, submission from 22-27 Oct.

Need advice .... My DS is offered CO from HCI, but rejected by RI during DSA via academics. I know his heart is set on RI, but he is afraid to take the risk of rejecting HCI not knowing if he can get into RI using PSLE results. I have consulted his form teacher and she is rather confident that my DS should be able to get decent T score to enter RI. We are rather troubled now ....

Last yr, we faced the same problem. Rejected by RGS, selected by another equally good school. We decided to take the psle posting way to RGS. After the exam, we roughly were able to tell that she would geta decent T score and hence made this decision

Since your son has his heart set on RI, then he should probably go for it using his PSLE score to get in. It is a gamble that he has to make as I am sure he will be a happier boy in RI than in HCI for 6 years. If he does not get a minimum score of 261 but his score stays above 258, he can still opt for HCI.

My son is also given a CO from HCI and was unsuccessful for RI after he had gone for the final selection test. He told me both schools are great but he feels he will be happier in HCI although I would prefer him to get into RI which he feels confident of getting in too after doing his PSLE. As parents, we must respect our kid's decision. We cannot decide for them on certain issues because if things go wrong, it will backfire and the kids may blame us for the wrong decision. Let our DCs decide their course of action.
