My DD has just gotten her P6 SA1 result. Based on her result 3As, 1A* and Distinction in HC, can she use her result to apply for DSA to RGS?

RGS' admissions criteria states that the student must demonstrate interest and talent in English or Math or Science or MT or have a history of consistently high academic achievements. Does your dd have these qualities?

My DD scored band 1 and grade A/A* in the 4 main subjects at P4 and P5 SA1 & SA2.

Even then, there's no guarantee that these will get a place in DSA.

I can't say I know much about how RGS selects students, but my daughter was an unsuccessful applicant (academic - English) last year, so this is my 'feeling' about it. Since RGS attracts a huge no. of applicants, most of whom have stellar Pr school results, I think they cannot select based on that alone, or even competition awards etc, simply because there are too many such applicants. Hence the requirement for the GAT and subject test. I presume these are to sift out those with the something 'extra' that make them stand out from the crowd of high-achieving candidates. There are also a host of other factors - how your daughter feels on the day, how she copes in the tests, how she works in groups, the chemistry between her and the testers etc. At least for the English test, some girls may dominate the discussions (even though the teachers try to give each girl air time) so quieter girls may have less opportunity to speak, or the topic may not be of interest to your daughter on the day etc. Basically, my point is that no-one knows for sure how they decide and who will be selected. If your daughter is interested, give it a try, but don't regard it as a failure if she isn't offered a place. At least half the cohort gets in through PSLE results. And my daughter found the tests quite interesting and fun and says it was worth taking part in the DSA just for the experience.[/quote]Hi slmkhoo, i have the same thought

My boy doesn’t go for any tuition and has no outstanding academic award e.g SMOPS as he has never been trained that way. Just got his P6 SA1 result, 3A*/1A: Math 98, science 97, CL 92, English 86. He isn’t a GEPer either. P4 SA2 4A*, P5 2A*/2A. He is one of the key players in school badminton team, the team won 2 times champions at inter-primary school tournament, 4th place in national tournament.

Based on his SA1 result, any chance for DSA RI through academic?
