Bad Teachers
-
Well they teachers have to be responsible. But students parents should also guide his child if child is so dull.

I have great respect for good teachers, those that are there to steer the life of the younger ones to the right direction. It is divine.
I have also come across teachers, who should be kept away from kids .
I think also, some of the teachers have honourable intentions, at the begining at least, but the system have caused them to be what they are , now.
The culprit in my books are the administrators of the system -

I don't believe this occupation is an iron rice bowl now. With all the complain from parent... their rice bowl may shake anytime. So stressful!!!
This occupation seems like an iron rice bowl...but it is a pathetic job.MMM:
Being a teacher is really not a easy job. Eg. Work does not end when the school bell goes off. They have to mark papers, etc.... after work. Do have a couple of teacher friends around me and their FB status always seem really stressed. Heard the pay is pretty miserable too.
So only with a passion can one be a good teacher. Was talking to my teacher cousin that some join the profession for the wrong reason. Eg. job security? Nothing else to do.... Though they usually resign but it is bad if our offsprings come across such teachers.
Pay is so low and admin work is the killer. From what I heard, life in the school still goes on after bell rings at 130pm...there is remedial, CCA, meetings, admin issues to handle. Marking books can only be done at home bcos the security guard locks up at 8.
In my time, I don't see my friend parent go into the principal office to complain the teacher. Even I get cane by the teacher until my hand get blue black, my parent still said \"Very GOOD\" to me. :slapshead: -
Being a teacher is not just an occupation, it is a job from the bottom of the heart. Human service workers are all not easy jobs. To teach is not easy. Is a two way routine. Parents and teachers should respect each other. Teachers need to feel appreciated too.

Nowadays alot of teachers quit to become full time tutor and make alot of money. I know of one such tutor. He zips around in his BMW when he goes to the students house. He told me he should have quit earlier! I was like
what would happen if all teachers think that way?? -
There will always be such cases but nevertheless we can’t blame them if they have chosen their path right? money has become more important than before due to the higher standard of living and for them, it is just that that matters.
work balance < money ?
work balance > money?
Passion vs money?
which will you choose? No one is wrong neither are they right.
just different view points. However if one can balance the best of both worlds, that will be great! -
Anyone with a view or opinion why these are happening?
I mean :-
1) teachers leaving the profession to become tutors,
2) the number of tuition centers?
3) the number of full time students having tuitions for more than one or two subjects ?
I have my views, but would like to get more views, thank you … -

workload of a teacher is incomparable to a tutor thus to have a more flexible lifestyle and more time for family or self, they will choose the latter.Anyone with a view or opinion why these are happening?

Tuition centers are just riding the wave set famous by their predecessors so that explains the increasing numbers around neighborhood areas.
Parents' expectations of their own child play an important role in your last point. It explains itself

Teachers are not bad. Some work for salary for some it ll be a passion …
Teachers are second mother of a child. Its not only a job but its also a social service. -
Being a teacher is not easy. Passion alone cannot remove their frustration in the school system. There are lots of bullying in schools.
I know someone who was a lecturer, popular with students and won 3 project awards in a single year. Yet he was "marked" for under performing and given a poor appraisal grade. He was given 3 years contract and then renew … and renew again… So he had to leave.
When he left, the school wanted to employ him as a project consultant because there was no one to do school project now! what a joke!
It is the same happening in other schools. Willing lecturers received more work while the course managers only "cut ribbons". It is the system forcing these passionate teachers out.
So yes…now this ex-lecturer is a full time tutor and now earn double his pay…
