Crescent Girls' School
-
My DD2 is in Crescent too. She totally enjoyed herself there. Homework wise not so much yet coz only 2 months into school now. My only concerns are :
Fit run - good for her to keep fit and also helps in the NAPFA test later.
CCA - She's in NPCC and she enjoys it but I find twice a week from 3-6pm
very tiring for her. By the time she gets home, bath and had dinner - she is left with abt 1 hr to do homework b4 she goes to bed.
I can tell that she is enjoying herself even thot life in Sec school is longer and more tiring than Pr school. Especially so since yesterday she came home with her new Slated PC! She was :rahrah: -
Oh wow mysticpurple! Your DD got her Slate PC already?! :imcool:
I pray that my DD will take care of the Slate PC - not losing or dropping it! :yikes: -
I'm worried too, knowing how kids can be so careless at times.
Yesterday she had her CCA and I wondered where she keep her PC. She told me that they have lockers along the corridors. Just put in 10cents and key in your own password to lock personal stuff, eg. PC and wallets.
2 of her friends and herself decided to share a locker. I questioned her how they put their PCs inside then. Was shocked to realise that they stack it on top of each other :yikes: Told her off for doing that! -

That's so good to hear, that our girls are happy and enjoying school!Brenda10:
Hi ebebel,
FYI, DD joins Dance Club. They will be learning Modern dance as well as Chinese Dance.
Same as your DD, my DD is also very exciting with the slate PC and I think they can put the text books /Work books at home.
DD loves the Green lab and also enjoy the Design and Technology lesson/workshop. Heard from her the school is going to organise a 10 session on a research program for History/Geography to a place (sorry, forgotten the name). :boogie:
I saw some of my DD's sketches for her D&T, quite interesting and great for nurturing creativity!
The only gripe she has is probably the morning 'Fit' run
But I'm glad they make the girls run to keep fit, 'cos I think PE alone is not enough.
Glad to hear that our girls are happy and adapting well. :boogie:
DD has both 'Fit' run and Dance CCA same day. Think she is getting use to it and I do think in long run this really helps them to build up good stamina. -

Hi, my DD is also so exciting with her precious Slate PC. We give her a Data SIM card so she can access to internet.
We haven't installed the D-Book (History and Geography) to the Slate PC. Also, heard from DD the CD for Science will be availabled in March only. -

Thanks for the info abt the Sci CD available only in March, I've been bugging my DD to find out when it would be available and just reminded her again this morning to remember to check with the bookshop again!
Do they need SIM card to get access (probably faster access?) cos the school has wi-fi that they could use? Last Friday, my DD said they had a free period and some of them could watch 'anime' on their Slates! :yikes: -
Hi Brenda
Apparently, my DD received the outstanding CD yesterday, and it was for History, not Science! And yes, I remember now that we've already got the two Science CDs when we bought the text books. I wonder if we are supposed to install the CDs into the Slate for her or should she wait for further instructions from her teachers before installing? :skeptical:
Thks. -

Sorry for the late reply.
The SIM card will only be activated whenever she is not in the school premises.
I think they are just curious and wanted to find out how good/fast is this slate PC lah!

Hi ebebel,
Thank you for sharing the information.
We also have not installed the CD and not sure what is plan from the school! They would need the 'Optical Drive' to carry on this installation!
Hopefully they can have all these done in school by next week! -
Hi CGS mommies
Do you know where I can get CGS socks? Is the uniform shop (in Queensway?) the only place to get socks? Is it true the girls can only wear socks with the ‘CGS’ print and not any other similar plain white socks?
Any advice? TIA!
