It seems we have mainly breadmachine bread makers here ?

Anyone tried No Knead Baking Method or Yeastless (Natural Leaven) Bread ?
Electricity cost going up  so I was thinking of trying No Knead method.

        nadya04:

First time used the zojirushi breadmaker and it was pretty good. Got the ok from the kids and hubby. It is so easy to use. 🙂 Will recommend this to my friends. Its not easy to get the milk powder. There's only 1 brand that I saw in NTUC.

        Good thing it's organic.

Hi nadya04, what brand of dry milk did u use? I couldnt find any in the 'baking' section of the supermarket so just used normal powdered milk for my first loaf with Z machine yesterday. Turns out ok but just wondering if there is any difference with other milk 🙂

        Hi ptmom,

Normal powdered milk is fine. 😄

          some updates 😉

so far I have tried baking basic white bread, honey bread (which tastes wonderful with butter), cheese bread (should have added more cheese). I love the Breadtalk version but have yet to achieve that kind of standard 😉

Have even baked a raisin butter cake ... a little dry when compared to normal oven baked- butter cake...but it goes well with coffee ...

I am going into buns soon ... my kiddos are looking forward to mum's home baked pork floss buns :imcool: Coming soon!

Went to read up on the no knead bread. Interesting but a very loooong process.

If saving electricity is your concern, don't think this will save much since it takes about 1.5hrs to bake the bread. Normal breads take take about 30mins, give or take. Not sure if it will work if we bake it the normal way.

Knead manually, no need to use electricity, can build arm muscles summore. 😂

But really interesting, very rustic. Thanks for bringing up this idea.

Funz, u have a point. I kept thinking bat the 1hr kneading, timer for 1st rise etc in the bread maker. Plus I kept thinking the cast iron pot can be used over fire…got to read and think again. Meanwhile, I better to exercise my muscles. Hahahaha.

I just chance upon this thread. It is an AMAZING thread. I have been contemplating baking my own bread as we eat bread 5- 6 days weekly but I have not the courage to dive into baking my own bread. So love the bread from BreadTalk & afraid that the breads that I bake would not achieve that kind of soft fluffy result. After reading thr the many pages (still at it), I feel I am more empowered to go & get the Z machine & try out … still need more power to go …
