I have just bought a takada bread maker. Saw that there is a bake function for cake making, does anyone know what is the temperature of the bake function?

                      Hi there,

Severin is an established brand from Germany. It is as good as the Z.

The reason why many of us go for the Z is because of space constraint. The one member here who is using the Severin does not have any complaints about it.

                      Hope this helps πŸ˜„

 So paiseh....been putting off coming to here.

Bought a bread machine when we were holidaying in China in June, but took us a good 3 weeks later before baking our first bread.

For the first bread, we followed the recipe in the user's manual to the T. It was successful, and everyone loved the warm, freshly baked bread...except for my picky dad who found it too dense to his liking.

Sorry...no photo of that bread since we were all so excited of the first bread that it was all gobbled up before I can bring out the camera! πŸ˜‚

After that first try, I happened to come to this thread, and found someone (can't remember who...but :thankyou:) posted this blog site: http://happyhomebaking.blogspot.com/ which eventually led me to this recipe: http://schneiderchen.de/237Hokkaido-Milky-Loaf.html

I used that recipe (proportionately reduced since my machine is only good for a 500g loaf....just like the Z) for my second loaf, and the result was as follows:

                        http://i52.tinypic.com/21jy7v8.jpg\">
Didn't get the proportion right the first time...the bread rose so much that it touched the cover, causing it to be a little under baked at the top.

                        http://i54.tinypic.com/11ht7w8.jpg\">
Yes, it's truly soft and fluffy! Even my picky dad loved it. So happened we cooked curry for dinner that day....ι”¦δΈŠζ·»θŠ±! We were destined to have fried rice the next morning.... πŸ˜‰

                        http://i53.tinypic.com/a3mpfo.jpg\">
DD just couldn't keep her hands off the bread.

Even though I had bought a Kai bread knife (Carrefour ~$14), I realised I have a bunch of animals at home, who prefer to tear into the bread than to wait for it to be sliced! πŸ˜‚

So there...my reporting here as a newbie baker! Hope to learn from you guys, but having to go through the 540+ pages of this thread is quite a daunting task! :faint:
