Hi, is some here who bakes their own bread at home? Would you mind sharing with us the advantages and disadvantages of this? How much bread-making a week will help me recover the cost of bread-making machine, etc?
Hi karenmok - do allow me to share my perspectives. I bake bread at home when I've time, and if not, I just buy commercial bread. I don't try to force myself to bake if I don't have time, cos it'll take away the joy of baking. I've both a breadmaker and a good Kenwood mixer, and I'm able to use the appropriate machine for the recipes. For easy straightforward recipes, the breadmaker is very convenient. For more complex recipes that require multiple kneading steps addition of ingredients and shaping (eg. Panettone bread and cinnamon buns), I use my Kenwood mixer.
I think it's hard to quantify how you can recover the cost of the \"investment\". You have to calculate the costs of the raw materials as well, plus some intangibles - eg. the bread you bake at home will be very fresh and free of preservatives. You can consider getting a basic breadmaker such as Kenwood BM150 or Takada (which I have) which is great for beginners. Hope this helps! -
Hi anyone can enlighten me how good about this sharp R898m model double grill/ convection microwave oven in baking cookies. I just brought a set from best denki. The sale girl told me can do baking. Tks

hmmm, i need some help.
i just bought a kenwood bm, model 260+.
i tried doing the most basic recipe.. but 2 attempts failed..
1) bread never raise at all (what kinda yeast you all bought? and from where? i got instant yeasT?).
2) the kneader got stuck in the loaf of unraised bread.

I don't have a kenwood but I expect all breadmakers to be similar. Instant yeast is fine. Is your yeast expired? Did you add your ingredients in the order specified by your machine? Most bread machines stipulate that you put the wet ingredients first, followed by the dry ingredients, and finally by the yeast. Very impt - the yeast cannot touch the salt, otherwise it won't activate.hmmm, i need some help.

The kneading knife does sometimes get stuck in the dough/bread. -
need some advice...just bought a Z breadmaker and wondering how i should go about the measurement..
first attempt failed cause bread did not rise then i realized the CD mentioned that the cup given was to use for liquid only. I have used the cup to measure all ingredients...
subsequently i used my kitchen scale and bread did rise
but then wondering whether can i just used measuring cup and \"agar agar\"?
thanks in advance for tips and advises.. -
I use cup measurements for liquid and dry ingredients when using the Z machine’s recipes. No problems with them rising. Which recipe did you try out? There’s an error in the cheese recipe.

Hi jtoh,
Do u use the cup that was provided for all the measurement? -
You can’t use the cup provided for all measurements bec the recipe calls for 1/3 cup flour etc and that cup can only measure full cups of dry ingredients, not 1/3, 3/4 etc. For those you have to use your own nesting cup measures.
